Parent: We have had a phenomenal experience at Marshall. We chose Marshall for our daughter because of the individualized attention and small class size - she was getting lost in her public school classroom and kind of pushed aside so the teachers could focus on the students who were struggling most. We've found that the small class size at Marshall allows teachers to really know their students, and know how they learn, and as an independent school, they have the complete freedom to tailor their teaching and lessons accordingly. Education is important to our family, and we feel that the best we can do as parents is give our daughter the strongest possible foundation early on, that it will serve her well through her entire life - and that Marshall is the place for that. Also, financial aid significantly helped. My daughter's favorite things are lunch (haha), the 3D-printer in the art room, and the science lab. Parent: This school is like NONE other in our area. LCA is all in one unified Christian school. It is NOT uniformed into just ONE Christian denomination. LCA is accepting of ALL denominations. In addition, academics are SUPERIOR to any school around, be it public, charter, and or private. The truth is in the scores LOOK at the ACT and SAT scores compared to any other school in the area. Senior: Overall my experience at Barnum High School was pretty good. I grew up in the town so I pretty much knew everyone. The people were really friendly and nice. For me, the classes were the right amount of challenging, not too hard not too easy. While the sports teams weren't the best of the best, they were pretty good and the students were really supportive of the teams. There is a multitude of clubs to join. Drama, math league, knowledge-bowl, student council, jazz and pep band, swing choir, National Honor Society, robotics, etc. I have really enjoyed my time there so far, and will miss it when I go off to college in the fall.... Alum: I very impressed but the number of Advanced Placement (AP) and College In The School (CITS) courses that were offered at SHS. I was able to enter college 1 whole semester ahead, helping me both with my college graduation requirments (taking less generals) and helping me register earlier (helping me get into the classes I wanted). The teachers here are great, never had a problem with any of them and still consider them friends! The environment at times could get a little crazy with fights breaking out on occasion but other than that it was fine. I was involved in a couple clubs and the band. Mr. Kasparek is an AMAZING band teacher (I like him better than my college band professor!) he always brought the best out in me and helped prepare me for college.
