Senior: The one thing I have absolutely loved about West Albany is the student section at pep assembly’s and games. The students make the school events fun and the students go a good job with any activity they plan.the only flaw is a lot of teachers do not respect pronouns and many students use slurs in front of staff and administrators and get away with it. The students don’t understand how disrespectful they can be to people and how hurtful what they say can be. Other than those West Albany is a good school and it offers some good programs, such as Health Occupations, Business, etc that will help students get into the career they would like after high school.... Senior: The school as a whole is alright, the teachers care and are passionate. This school has some minor tweaking that could be done, such as cracking down on bathroom vandalizing, but the teachers are doing what they can. The staff is the only issue, meaning the hall staff. The people at the school are pretty nice, the teachers care, the counselors are nice, understanding and the school is genuinely nice. Campus is open, clean and kept up to date. It's safe, and the majority of the folks that work for South Albany are very knowledgeable. There isn't a whole lot of negative things, as the school is very diverse, with multiple different groups of people. No one's an outcast, bullies aren't present, and if one shows up they are immediately taken care of by the school. I like the way it's ran, because the school isn't too strict, yet they don't allow just anything to happen. Parent: We love this school! The teachers and staff really have a heart for their students. Public school was a battle for my kids. With comments like "Don't worry when you grow up you can use a calculator" and unsafe situations with bullying - we had it. We saw huge improvements with in weeks at East Linn and our kids have been thriving and filled with confidence in themselves. They see themselves through positive eyes. My daughter went from crying during homework to doing it on her own and loving it. My kids have learned they are valued and they are not limited on what they can accomplish. As a Christian family we love that the school is centered around Christ. Everyone makes mistakes and when a school goes out of its way to encourage forgiveness and move on. Senior: I like the small town feel of this school. It is very small, which gives students and faculty more opportunities to work one on one. Academics are very important there, and students are strongly encouraged to interact and participate in many school activities, including clubs, sports, and other extracurricular activities. One unique aspect about this school, is how the teachers are all very well equipped to helping the students in any situation, whether it's teaching the kids, or counseling them through life. There are many alternatives to learning at HHS. There are many students who are either accelerating at a fast pace or a slower pace, and at Harrisburg, students are given alternatives to learning. Senior: It is an amazing school. The students and teachers there all really good and you get one-on-one help from teachers because it is a small school. My experience has been amazing for four years. Senior: I would love to see kids treating others better, I see the staff members trying to solve every problem that comes their way. The teachers are so nice, and they go out of their way to make sure everyone is doing okay. Each staff helps the students as much as possible with so many options given to the student. We have had some bad times with the COVID and everything shutting down but they have found so many ways to make their graduating seniors feel seen and proud of. I love this school because they always try to steer us in the right way and give the best future advice to prepare us for the real world as being an adult. My school includes not just the older class men but even the younger class men, when we do activities it shows everyone to include others and think about, have empathy. Senior: Pretty good overall. More focus is seemingly put on athletics than other clubs. Class availability can be a little wonky or perhaps restrictive if the classes are not that popular or if they're optional. Almost every teacher is helpful and wants to be there for the students.
