Senior: The experience I had at Van Buren High School is wonderful. I'm currently a senior at VBHS and It is quite sad to leave this school soon. VBHS gave me so many opportunities that I couldn't be more grateful for. The opportunity to support the community through community service, to help my school and those in need, and to support the community through dance and the many activities and clubs I'm involved in. Not only have they provided so many opportunities, but they provided the best possible education I could ask for. There is this welcoming and calming atmosphere when you walk into VBHS. The teachers and staff members at VBHS show so much compassion for students. . The teachers have helped me with every little problem, from helping with college essays to opening a locker. There is this never-ending love, encouragement, and dedicaiton from the teachers. Every day I attend school hopeful and ready to learn something new. Senior: Some things that I liked about Alma High School is the amount of programs and organizations offered. Clubs range from DECA and TSA to Drama and Golf Club, providing all students the opportunity to join clubs that they consider fun while presenting them with college opportunities. Our DECA and TSA clubs have been competing at state and winning for years but all that does is encourage them to work harder and receive more points for their next competitions. Some change I would like to see at our school is the amount of effort going into the students who are below the academic scale. I feel our school isn't providing enough or giving enough opportunities to those who need more help in Academics. This last year our school barley passed our overall reading and comprehension scores; yet I see that students in more advanced classes are the ones receiving the study material needed to bring these scores up rather than those in our non-advanced classes.... Senior: I thin overall, Cedarville High School is a very average school that gets students where they need to be to be able to go out in the real world and pursue college. Most of the teachers I have been familiar with have been kind and pushing, but quite a few have been the opposite. I think the one of the downfalls of the school is that it is so disorganized. Some of the teachers are just so disorganized and don't really teach that well; I feel like it really takes a toll on a lot of students' education. Alum: I liked the fact that it's a small school and I've known the students and teachers for over twelve years. The teachers are always trying to encourage us to keep working towards getting ready for college. The staff tried to make it the time enjoyable but also pushed us to be our best. They were always trying to get grants and ways to bring more learning options such as STEM equipment. I do wish they had more instructions for the teacher that was given the task of using new equipment. We had most of what we needed considering how small our school is at this time. We now have a new building for drama and music for the future students that can also be used for the community. Our sports teams are baseball and basketball but, I hope at some time we will be able to have other varieties. Maybe even football. The only thing I didn't like was the common core math but, that wasn't the school's fault but, it certainly made things more difficult.... Read 24 reviews
