Texas High School
#1 Best Public High Schools in Bowie County
- Texarkana Independent School District, TX
- Rating 3.92 out of 5 316 reviews
Junior: The school has a lot of potential and is pretty good, in spite of what others may say. It offers multiple classes and even some for students who want to go into the workforce right after high school. It has a wide range of vocational classes and electives, along with the standard, mandatory courses. Most of the teachers and administrators are friendly, but I wish they would improve on informing all of their students about special events or circumstances since they usually inform us too late or with little information.

Pleasant Grove High School
#3 Best Public High Schools in Bowie County
- Pleasant Grove Independent School District, TX
- Rating 3.84 out of 5 97 reviews
Senior: Extracurricular is Pleasant Grove's biggest strong suit, with a wide selection of activities and organizations for student be involved in. On this topic, however, Pleasant Grove's football program overshadows most other programs. The football program gets far from an equivalent amount attention and resources. Some sports don't even have coaches that are familiar with their sport because the priority when hiring is that they can first and foremost coach football. The ratio of good to bad teachers I've had while attending Pleasant Grove likely doesn't lean in favor of the good teachers. Several departments are lacking in their ability to educate and several teacher's qualifications for their subjects are in question. However, it should not go without saying that Pleasant Grove has a handful of great teachers. I do have my extracurricular involvement and some good teachers to thank for me knowing my ideal career path.

James Bowie High School
- Simms Independent School District, TX
- Rating 3.92 out of 5 72 reviews
Senior: James Bowie ISD deserves all the credit for my accomplishments. Throughout, the year the teachers and student administrators have strived to push students, including myself, to try new things. Freshman year of high school it was recommended to me that I engage at the idea to take an ag class for one semester to see how I liked the program. Now my senior year and I am the sentinel of the Simms FFA chapter and the recipient of many 1st place rewards from many different FFA activities. I'm on several teams also part of The National Honor Society Organization. Without James Bowie ISD and its staff, all of the things I have accomplished would not have been possible. To say the least, the motivation put forth by the staff is by far my favorite thing about my school. If I was to change anything at all, I would add an open study hall or free period once a week for students to catch up on classwork or shop work.

New Boston High School
- New Boston Independent School District, TX
- Rating 3.39 out of 5 70 reviews
Sophomore: What I like about my school is that most teachers will try to help you if you do not understand things. Some teachers will take the extra mile to work with you when you need help in their class. Overall New Boston has great programs that prepare us for our future such as college , I just think that they should make a few minor adjustments to the school, so the future students will have a greater advantage and opportunities.
