Senior: I enjoyed my experience at Makua Lani. It had personal teachers that help you with anything you need being for school or in life. The academics help further your advancement for college prepare you for upcoming life alone. They are very strict when comes to clothing an discipline. Students won’t always get along with every teacher but there is always one they will click with more than others an sometimes that person becomes their mentor in life.

Niche User: I've attended this school ever since I've been in kindergarten and I have to say, this school really instilled the Hawaiian culture into me and I'm proud to call myself Hawaiian. From kindergarten you grow up with the same class so there's this unbreakable bond between us students because we basically grew up together. Bullying has never been an issue, even if it has been the staff and faculty were quick to take control of that situation. The teachers get really involved in our education and are always there when we need them.

Parent: Ke Kula O Nawahiokalaniopuu Iki is a K-12 Hawaiian Language Medium/Immersion school that includes Hawaiian values and traditions in its education. The school is great not only because of the curriculum, but because of the students and staff. I have attended this school since I was in Kindergarten, and I am blessed to see the many changes of this school, and the positivity they bestow on the students. This school has gotten me ready for life after I leave this place, and I am proud to call this place like a second home.

High School Junior: This school has been a great experience because they teach you and bring you more in touch with the Hawaiian culture. It is such a small school so you have a closeness with everyone. It's is also good because by the time you graduate you'll be fluent in two languages. The only bad thing is that since most of the people attending have been going there since kindergarten and are really close with one another; so being a new student is hard because you have to earn the trust of the class. After that it's really nice and you create great friendships.

Junior: I love this school it brings the Hawaiian culture into this school
Very strong that you can enter the campus with no experience of speaking Hawaiian and within only 1 year you will learn quickly. Not only the culture that brings out the fun into the school but, with the protocols we do 3 times a day it makes the school more understanding and better. We can't go out with a day without praying.

Parent: We are are new family to Basis McLean but so far loving it!
I know there has been administrative instability in the past but the quality of the teaching and small class size is outstandingly fabulous. My daughter is so motivated, it is wonderful to see.

If your focus is sports, this is not the school for you. But if your focus is academics and a love a learning, I believe this school is working very well.

We are happy we switched from FCPS, despite the cost esp. as the school offers in-person teaching during this pandemic which has been essential for my child's growth and wellbeing.
