Parent: We have two boys at University School and we say US is one of our favorite parts about living in Cleveland! Our boys sprint out the door every morning because they love going to school! We chose US because our boys are both inquisitive and full of boy energy. In our interview they told us “we know boys” and they REALLY do! The boys come home telling us everything about their days! Also, we were thrilled to find how down to earth and fun the families are! There’s tons of after school activities and school events that help you get to know people. Parent: At the beginning, my daughter was very hesitant to attend HB for her high school. However, during the four years, she learned a lot, met many good friends and wonderful faculty and thus became loving HB very much. HB offers rigid curriculum, an open environment with healthy competition which helps the kids better prepare for the future. Freshman: A very good school, amazing academics, and great resources! I especially like the clubs. The teachers are nice, but the classes can be boring sometimes. Great food! Diversity is great. We learn about diversity for the first 1/2 of the 1st school year as a Freshman and I think we are going to be learning about it even longer. College Readiness is great and the school holds meetings with students 1 on 1 and in a group to talk about colleges. Parental involvement is average, and my parents technically don't do much to help. If you apply, you will get a weekly (or was it monthly? I can't remember) email from the school about what is happening. Sports are said to be great, but I am not taking a sport. As a freshman, I think that safety is good. Hawken upper school (high school) also has a place called the woods, which is a large forest where people do school things. Parent: My son is new to the Early Learner's program this year. We chose Laurel due to its phenomenal reputation for Early Childhood. Our very first visit confirmed what we had heard in the community: the teachers are second to none, and the environment is welcoming, warm, safe, full of love and lots of learning! My son runs happily into his classroom each morning, so excited to see his teachers & friends and for all that is in store for him each day. The communication from the teachers is excellent and it's clear they are experts in early childhood education, developmental stages and transitions, and helping each little person become their best, most confident self! Parent: The teachers are all so amazing! They are nurturing and you can tell they really have a passion for teaching and growing minds. The administrative staff are also very helpful and have great communication. The various events for both students and parents always go above and beyond expectations. CCDS' 62-acre campus is unmatched and enable their rich outdoor education, my kids particularly enjoy the animal farm they have! Junior: Deciding to apply for a scholarship and go to a boarding school in the US may be the best decision I have ever made in my life. This school only made my fantastic experience even better. Junior: The Summit Country Day School is a private catholic school in Cincinnati, Ohio. It functions with five primary pillars: spiritual, academic, athletic, artistic, and and social. It also has a prevalent character program in which each grade is assigned multiple character traits which they are encouraged to embody by faculty and activities. I started coming here in 7th grade due to the wonderful experience I had on my shadow day. The Summit has excellent resources for both general education and preparing you for life beyond the classroom. The teachers are dedicated to providing the best education possible, and we have facilities such as a makers space and a sports complex. All of the teachers are both highly qualified and passionate about their jobs. We also have things like an anatomy table and new computers for student use. Senior: As a senior at CSG who's spent 7 years here, I've been at this school for a long time. CSG has a lot of good things about it, but there are some things you should be aware of before attending. CSG has excellent teachers, and most students here form close relationships with them. You can always meet individually to ask for help, and they all have office hours/free periods to faciliate that. There's a wide variety of classes here that get more interesting as you progress, and the academics are difficult but not impossible. There is a significant amount of homework that can become overwhelming at times. Sports here are my least favorite part. If you're not already "good" at one before coming, you will not get better. The food here is AMAZING, and you'd be pressed to find better food anywhere else. This is initially why I came lol. Alum: I went to this school for 12 years and honestly, I would do it all over again. This is a school that prepares you for life. Spiritually, I have CHCA to thank for setting a firm foundation that was given to me in Elementary school. In middle school I learned that it was time for me to grow up and take action. In high school, all of it was put together and the challenges that I faced, I knew I had all the resources at CHCA to help. Works Here: Oak Creek Elementary takes care of 676 students in the 2017-2018 calendar year. Every teacher and administrator goes above and beyond to make sure the diverse population of students succeed in every facet of their school experience.
