Parent: Have loved my daughter being at this school. She is happy, works hard, is challenged and very involved in many different things. This environment also encourages individuality which promotes supporting each other and not having to be identical young ladies. My daughter is very lucky to have such a wide range of classmates (differing in many ways including opinions, race, ethnicity, politics, religion, interests and more). This environment has broadened her mindset and perspective while simultaneously allowing her to strengthen and cultivate her own thoughts, opinions, ideas and values for herself. Senior: Lausanne is a school that subscribes to the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, which prepares students for college by challenging them to create and question knowledge rather than to blindly absorb and regurgitate it. Using the IB curriculum, Lausanne challenges its students with rigorous classes that are made easier by teachers that are willing to support their students through years of experience and dedication. Lausanne is extremely safe, and maintains a healthy physical/mental environment for students of all backgrounds. The school hosts plenty of sports, clubs, and arts events, but is sometimes criticized for focus on athletics over other areas of extracurricular activities. Additionally, the school has somewhat outdated facilities (very weak/spotty wifi, older classrooms), but has plans for renovation and new development. Junior: I truly love Hutchison. I feel as though I have attained a well rounded education while continuing to excel in extracurriculars and service work. Hutchison also builds an amazing community for students, teachers, and alumni. Middle School Student: I have been attending PVS for my whole life and have never regretted coming to this school. PVS has provided the necessary resources to create an excellent environment for any student.The diversity is immaculate with students from all 7 continents and representing every part of the globe.The teachers are always there to help and use many teaching methods.I am never afraid to discuss any issues with my teachers; they are always willing to help in any way that they can.Additionally, at PVS I am given the opportunity to excel by taking more advanced courses.If I understand a concept, the teachers present more challenging topics that help me think harder and smarter.If I am falling behind, the teachers take extra time to help me understand whatever I need help on. Parent: The building is wonderful. I am proud to send my kids here. The teachers are beyond friendly and well appreciated. There is not any cliques or judgement. Everyone just helps each other when needed. I would go to any family for help and I hope they would do the same with me. My kids always talk about how good their lunch is. I offer to make them lunch, but nope, they do not want it! The administration is really involved. I would recommend this school to anyone who asks. Parent: We love the small class sizes and the teachers’ hands-on teaching styles at St. Agnes. The teachers work hard to find activities to engage your child in a way that will help them grow. Not only will your child’s teacher know how they learn best, but they’ll also know them as a whole person- their personality, their friends, you as parents, etc. It feels like family. We love the Christian environment and Biblical teachings. We love the single gender lower school classrooms so that our girls learn to be confident leaders, but we also like how they still interact with their male counterparts through mass, field trips, book clubs, etc. We also appreciate all the social skills they learn in some co-ed classes in junior high, as well as the Early Childhood Center. We are thankful for the administration’s long-term focus on our children’s education and spiritual growth, but they can also be found spontaneously jumping in a bounce house with the kids or reading to classes. Senior: I am a graduating senior in the class of 2023, and I have gone to Briarcrest for 14 years. The biggest resource that a student gains by attending Briarcrest Christian High School is the faculty. The teachers and administration at this school have roots that run deep throughout the building, curriculum, and student relationships. All of the teachers truly care about the student, and I will forever cherish the relationships that I have with my high school teachers. Outside of the faculty relationships, I find that Briarcrest has a diverse and wide-selection of extracurricular opportunities for its student body. Parent: I am the parent of a rising 6th grader that just completed his 6th and final year at Dogwood as well as a rising 4th grader. Both of my children love Dogwood! I appreciate the support of their teachers as both children have different needs and abilities. The administration is incredible at supporting the development of the "whole child". Even in recent situations where one of my kids made a poor behavior decision, the administration was clearly focused on being sure to correct the behavior without having the child walk away feeling shamed or anxious. Parent: This is an amazing school for academic. I love the size and warm, personal feel of the school culture. The way the teachers helped me help my children with technology was stunning. There were just so many apps I could not keep up with. The administration is supportive of everyone's needs and is present at every event. I would recommend this school to anyone! Parent: This school did an excellent job at preparing my children for middle school. The homework was not excessive, but just enough to reinforce the skills to ensure their success within the classroom. They have molded my children to grow in to respectful little humans! This school is well organized and every grade level is in sync with how they handle things. That is one thing I am very grateful for as a parent is how smooth the transition is from one class to the next. The procedures are the same throughout the school and throughout the district. Works Here: Altruria is an AMAZING elementary school full of kindness and learning. The teachers are happy to teach and it shows because many of them have been there for YEARS. There are many opportunities for kids to explore and parents to get involved. I believe that Altruria is the BEST elementary school in Memphis. The building is outdated, but that doesn't stop the artwork from flooding the halls or the welcoming environment of classrooms. If you are looking for an elementary school that will love your child and wants them to succeed, this is the place. There is a full-time SRO officer that makes safety a main priority. Parent: My family has had an amazing experience at Bailey Station! This school is full of top-notch, caring teachers and staff. It really feels like a family from the moment you walk in the door. Everyone is so friendly and is genuinely excited to be there. My son has grown so much not only academically, but socially and emotionally! I’m amazed at all the things he’s learning. Parent: We choose ECS after moving to the Memphis area from another state. Our children are flourishing! They have made wonderful friends, the parents are so welcoming and involved and the teachers are just above and beyond anything we could have hoped for. They have appointed a new group of leaders to really guide the school into the next century of learning and create a culture of memory making and fun.
