Parent: As a 3rd culture kid myself and as part of a bi-racial family, some of the most important factors in choosing the International School of Indiana was so that our family would not just be accepted, but that my children would be seen, understood and be surrounded by other like-minded families and staff that would understand the unique, nuanced nature of what it means to be culturally diverse, especially in the Midwest US. The rich foundation that is the International Baccalaureate curriculum encourages critical thinking, thoughtful communication and an inherent understanding that we can always find common ground, through open-minded discourse and exchange. It is those important, critical life skills, coupled with the gift of a second language, French in our case, which means they are also acquiring the ability to converse in a different language, understand different cultures and keep their young minds functioning exceptionally.
