Parent: After a few months of online schooling and many tears, we were desperate to find an in-person alternative to the anxiety inducing situation we were in. Our 9 year old son and almost 5 year old daughter have been attending the lower school since January and we are extremely pleased and feel so fortunate to have landed there. Our sensitive son’s anxiety level has been lowered significantly, and he really responds to the learning style there. He is thrilled to be learning cursive and German and knitting, and also seems to really appreciate the extra outdoor time and learning about nature and Native American stories in addition to his times tables and long division. Our nearly 5 year old daughter’s imagination is put to great use every day and she has also become quite the little finger knitter! The environment is nurturing and thoughtful. Junior: I have been School since I was in pre-K, so naturally this became my second home. The teachers are like my aunts and uncles and they care very deeply about my education and are very passionate about what they teach to every student at the school. My experience has been much more than just an academic journey, but rather allowed me to live through years and years of warm gatherings and afterschool activities with the teachers and students I love who are considered family members, I will deeply miss them once I depart to college.... Senior: As someone who has attended several different kinds of educational institutions (online, private, public, charter), I truly believe that education is what YOU make out of it. Central Academy has caring staff who are willing to go above and beyond to meet your needs. While IB and AP curriculum aren't offered at this time, they willingly pay for students to take dual-enrollment college classes. As a rising senior, I will be graduating with around 40 college credits and will be well acquainted with the rigor of college-level courses. There are many opportunities to start your own extracurriculars, an endeavor the staff is more than willing to support you in. Whether you want to test out of a class, request to take additional college courses, or change your schedule, the staff is more than willing to help if you take the time to ask. Parent: I LOVE this school. They have helped my boy so much words can not express my gratitude. My son has Autism and when he started there years ago he was barely speaking and lashed out violently sometimes toward people. He has since made such a wonderful improvement with behavior and speech I could not be prouder. Being a very involved single mom it's important to find people that are willing to listen and learn about my boy. I'd do anything for him. Parent: Our child has been at SK for several years now, and has loved each and every year. We couldn't have imagined a more fantastic educational experience. The intentionally small class sizes and personalized approach allows each kid to be incredibly well known. There are no kids at SK who are left behind or can hide in the back of the classroom. Each child receives the full attention of the teachers, is integrated into all of the experiences and is truly cared for like a family member. By the time our kid finished kindergarten, all of the teachers in the school (from K to 8th) knew our child well. You can't beat that kind of attention and awareness of your kid. It's within this context of being known and supported that SK then works its magic, excelling consistently at developing children who are intrinsically motivated, hard working, curious, love to learn, know themselves, and are willing to make mistakes and then try again. Junior: This school is very new and the facilities are nice and clean. The people are very nice and the culture is inclusive, with lots of opportunities to find things you like to do. Sports are okay; they haven't been established that long so the going is slow. However many sports can be made into clubs, which are strongly encouraged. The teachers are very good. In the last year the school went fully online and the experience was not great, but since going back to in-person the people are a lot nicer and create an extremely friendly environment.... Parent: I am so grateful for this school. When my oldest son was finishing up kindergarten in another state, his teacher's one recommendation was to put him in a smaller school. Well, we found the right school in Ann Arbor Christian school. He made instant friends. He receives a lot of encouragement from teachers and peers. I am sometimes incredulous at the welcoming and positive environment, especially in places I don't expect it such as the middle school students being so genuinely friendly with our children. We were looking for a school that would give our children continuity between home and school and we found it. The Bible teaching we engage in at home is supported at school.
