Middle School Student: My experience as a middle school student in Mercer International Middle School for the past three years have been amazing. I met many new friends, and connected with a bunch of my classmates. The teachers have been very supportive, such as helping students raised their grades up with retakes. I have learned a lot from my classes. One change I like to see in Mercer is for more elective classes. We currently have orchestra, band, technology, physical education, world culture, and world language (Spanish and Chinese). High School Senior: It's been a while since I have been to Denny but one thing that will always stand out to me is their math program. I was in the "advanced", basically taking "7th grade"-level math in 6th grade, pre-algebra in 7th grade, and going forth to taking what was considered a high school course, algebra, in 8th grade. Got one high school credit out of the way, and hadn't even started high school yet! While that was nice, the math teachers at Denny are absolutely fantastic and great at what they do. They are helpful and have great teaching methods and although the grading system (at least when I was there), was either good/bad depending on your preferences (it was standard-based learning system), the teachers still do an amazing job at teaching students all the units, and provide great motivation and incentives to get students to do their work and learn.... Middle School Student: OVERALL North MS was a fun school. I'm sure the new renovation could fix a lot of it's problems, however in my experience, ironically, I liked the old school better. This school was really fun, it toughened you up as it has a well-deserved reputation of being sketchy (it is not hard to spot a condom on the ground almost everywhere you go). They handle bullying decently, which is good, and there are a surprising amount of academic options to take. Middle School Student: Over all decent school, just the area isn't great so we have lock down every here and then. Teachers are okay as well, the older ones just don't seem to have a passion for what the do anymore but over decent. Junior: I have only attended Davenport High School since my Sophomore year. But my experience has been very good with all aspects of the school. Student to teacher relationships are very good here, they offer many sports for being a school in a small town, and the academic standards are high as well. I also believe that being located in a small town allows the Davenport student body to feel connected to each other and their community more than other schools might get to experience, and this to me is very important.
