Senior: Early College High School is not for everyone. It's a dual-credit school in which academics are pretty much the only focus. There are no sports teams and there are only a handful of clubs. However, that's perfect for people like me who have issues with classes dragging their feet and drowning you with homework rather than teaching the necessary materials and testing you on what's important.... Sophomore: Alta Vista can pressure it’s students but pressure is how diamonds are made. I enjoy the fast paced classes, it appeals to me and the demand of my time right now saves me more time in the future. Personally, being surrounded by people who share the same ferocity for their futures inspires me to be better. The high expectations are not for everyone, but there are people who exceeds these expectations. The school can be improved if there were optional classes that could be added in, such as another language besides Spanish or if we could add in Criminal Justice. The same could be applied to extra curricular activities besides the generic Student Council or other clubs that focus solely on leadership and competition. I think that with the Coronavirus and its effects, you can see what makes an excellent teacher separated from the mediocre and I’m happy to say that most if not all of my teachers are fantastic.... Junior: Amy Biehl is a wonderful school for kids particularly interested in humanities and the arts. It’s a great culture and it’s in downtown ABQ. Being able to not only have the school as a community but also the city, is really amazing and a great experience. Of course there are downsides of the location and of the school, but the support you have from the teachers and fellow students is wonderful. Senior: The best part of my experience was the teachers and the classes. At this school I am treated like a college student because I am on a college campus and there is mutual respect amongst the students and teachers. I like how involved we are in our community by doing friday projects where we give out to our community and volunteer with schools and organizations. My least favorite thing is the school spirit. Senior: Alma d'Arte has become not only a second home but my first sanctuary, a way to escape the harshest parts of my everyday life. In this school not only have I found people I have entrusted my heart to but my mind to. Nothing will ever be the same as this home, this tender, loving, and caring environment. Alma d'Arte showed me kindness and taught me how to show it to myself. I have grown strong emotionally, mentally, and academically along side my peers. I am eternally grateful for this school. Senior: Overall, Clovis High Schools is a pretty good school! I love how the teachers are always super helpful no matter what, and they always make sure that you are good, and are understanding what they are teaching. My school loves school spirit, especially the staff and administrators. They always show up and support our athletics and cheer every single one of us on! They care about our grades and attendance very much and always are there for whenever us students need to talk to them. Even when school is not in session, our teachers and staff do everything in their power to make sure that we have everything, whether it be coats and winter clothes in the winter to keep us warm, or summer clothes, or any other item. Junior: I moved to this school at the beginning of my sophomore year. The main reason I transferred was because I had heard very good things from one of my friends about the agriculture program here. The counselor and the admin team were great, setting me up with the classes I needed, transferring credits and helping me register for dual credit The school was virtual for my first year. Once I was able to come in person it was great. The students here are all very nice and very non-judgmental. The ag program was fantastic, and the ag teacher is amazing. They have a really cool program called Edgenuity, which allows students to take other classes not necessarily offered through the teachers at school. For example I took an anatomy class on Edgenuity and loved it. By far my favorite part about this school though is the dial credit opportunities. Senior: Monte Del Sol was an amazing school and I definitely recommend it. From the community, to the culinary program, to our sports, to our amazing lunch crew, it’s all an amazing experience and I enjoyed it all. Now being a senior and I can reflect on all my years at Monte I just wish one thing. I wish I had more time and enjoyed the moments I wanted time to go faster. The administration and staff have been so inspiring and supportive in my child's academic and athletic pursuits. It is a very diverse school in which kids are very accepting of one another. There is something for everyone-sports, theatre, music, bilingual classes, Senate, and much more. Junior: The school buildings themselves are wonderful. There is a building for some of the art/photography classes, a building split for AFJROTC which includes a weight room that is also connected to the gym, and lastly the main building with three floors that is very colorful and well-decorated. The teachers and staff members themselves are kind and helpful, most of the tense situations come from issues amongst students. Every school is bound to have a few dozen troublemakers, it’s how they’re dealt with after they’ve made mistakes that really matters. Senior: MCHS is easily the best school in McKinley county. Granted, that isn't saying much, but this is in fact a good school by any reasonable measures. It provides a healthy, challenging learning environment and provides the opportunity to take actual college courses with actual college professors and students. To be sure, UNM Gallup doesn't have the greatest teachers in the world, but they are qualified, and the classes are probably above anything you'll ever receive in a normal high school.... Senior: I've attended San Jon Schools for my entire life. I couldn't imagine going to another school for so long. I've made amazing, lifelong friends here. I have been taught by some of the best teachers. This school has helped me prepare for college. I've currently taken six college classes and have A's in each one. I've made honor roll every year. My teachers are absolutely amazing at their jobs. Our sports program is a little crazy but it has become so much better. San Jon Schools truly focus on the students and our education.
