Junior: I am a Junior at Worcester Tech and so far, I love it here! It's a very unique experience that other high schools don't offer. If you choose the right shop, you will have a great time here because you are focusing on something you are passionate about for half the school year! some shops might even get you certified so you can get a good job right out of high school. For example, if you choose Allied health, you might graduate with a CNA, and if you choose Cosmetology, you might graduate as a licensed cosmetologist. The teachers are great and understanding and there are many clubs and after-school programs. If you are struggling academically, there are so many opportunities for extra help like morning homework help, after-school extra help, and after-school homework club. Senior: My experience at Somerville High was pretty decent overall. I formed a bond with my fellow classmates and teachers. Virtual learning did make things difficult at first but we were able to get through it together. The counselors there were nice and helped me with my college applications. Senior: My experience at Putnam has been great and beneficial to my career because it opens many doors to job opportunities outside of school or as a co-op position. Being a vocational school, Putnam helped me think about what I want to do in the future and this is just as important as academic studies. The best part of Putnam has to be the connections students have with each other and their staff, feeling as if each shop is a unique family. One negative experience would be the overwhelming stress of handling both shop and academic classes at once. Senior: The strong community that was constantly built and maintained throughout the school was what drove me to make my decision of spending my 4 years at this school. Every school can have great academics and great teachers but it’s nothing compared to the love that is shared in this community and the drive to see each other succeed. I was chosen to represent our school’s Early College Program in a Boston Globe article where I shared my experience as a participant in the first year of the program at my school. These college classes not only prepare us for the college classroom environment with other college students, but also allow us to explore what career we may want to pursue after high school. Alum: Lowell High School is a well-known public high school located in Lowell Massachusetts. The school offers a wide range of academic programs and extracurricular activities, aiming to provide a well-rounded education to its students. The best aspects of Lowell High School include its academic curriculum, challenging courses, and students. The classes I had taken, which include AP, Early College (EC), and Duel Enrollment (DE) classes were amazing ways to prepare me and many other students for college and future careers. The Honors and other classes also were very informative and enjoyable. Lowell High School also offers a diverse atmosphere, allowing students to interact with peers from various backgrounds and cultures. However, there may be areas that could be improved. One common criticism was the security around the bathrooms. Many students would loiter around and inside the bathrooms and would not leave unless escorted out. Weather you are a student that likes being academically challenged or a student that prefers to focus on other aspects of life, this school can be for you. Sophomore: The brand new building is a huge upgrade from the previous one! I really enjoy having my teachers and the extra mile they take to give frequent office hours, in-depth class lessons that go beyond just the syllabus, and the conducive learning environment. On a side note however, I do notice a bit of a division between students that are in the honors/GSA program oppose to the other academies. It’s sad to see in real time but there are still many great things about South! The various clubs and sports make for a wide array of extracurricular activities to choose from and you’re able to meet so many different people. I would definitely recommend coming here!... Senior: My overall experience at Gr Lowell Regional Vocational Technical has been amazing. I made connections with my teachers, made new friends, and also be one step closer to my goals. I like going to the voke knowing I get to have the opportunity to get an education in academics and also in my field of trade; two education at once. I appreciate the staff and teachers pushing students to succeed and to believe in themselves. I remember when I was a freshman, I was a very quiet shy girl, who didn't ask for help even when I was struggling. As time passed by, I felt more comfortable reaching out for help. Help is available and people do care about you. GLTHS is a safe environment compared to other schools, like LHS. I enjoy going to the voke and I am so glad to receive my education here. Senior: I decided to join Central High School due to their sports teams. I joined softball and I enjoyed my time with the players but the gameplay and coaches weren't the best. It caused me to leave even though I was a JV captain and wanted to be a Varsity captain. It's always been easy to achieve good grades as long as you put in the effort, although some teachers make it difficult for you to learn from. That could be from a lack of communication or a lack of teacher-student respect. Despite everything, the more social I became, the more comfortable I was and the more fun I had with the students there. Not every student is as engaged or mature which effects most of the school. Their lack of maturity sometimes causes school events to be canceled or we have a lack of school events due to the known occurrence of events due to immaturity. Senior: The best part of GLCPS is the small community of it all. We all know each others names, and most of the names of the grades above and below us. The worst part is the lack of sports, and organizations. Even though I do not do sports myself, I would love to go to a stereotypical high school football game and show our school spirit. Although, because of our location, this is impossible. I would also like to see change in the organization of the school.
