High School Senior: Alhambra Highschool is an amazing school because it provides numerous opportunities to improve yourself and develop into a strong, mature adult by the time you graduate. What makes this school unique is the commitment each teacher takes into the extracurriculars. An example is Speech and Debate. I was in Speech and Debate for the past 3 years, and I can guarantee that I am not the same individual who stepped into Mr. Tong's classroom during the first day of the open meeting in freshman year. This is partly because of the numerous tournaments that I go throughout the years but a major contributor would be the teacher, Mr. Tong. Our team consists of more than 100 individuals managed by one coach: Mr. Tong. I have been on the team for the past 3 years and I still cannot wrap my head around it! I mean, it's one thing to guide us and keep the club functioning but it's a completely different thing to keep the club functioning as a whole, help as many students as possible, and to be an individual that can help you with any problems that may be affecting you in any way. If it wasn't for Mr. Tong, I would still be that shy person from freshman year because I remember how at various points during my freshman, sophomore and junior year he would help me with my presentation or speech. He has helped me improve my presentation skills to the point where going to tournaments and speaking are my favorite experiences- a change that I never dreamed would happen. After 3 years, I learned that a club isn't successful unless the teacher is willing to put their effort into the club and I can guarantee that our Speech and Debate team is successful because of Mr. Tong. That is what makes Alhambra Highschool unique: the teacher's commitment. Teachers like Mr. Tong who stay at school to help make a major impact onto the students' lives and encourage them to grow into functioning adults. That is why I would definitely choose this school again if I can.
