South Texas Academy for Medical Professions
1 Niche Standout High Schools in Cameron County
- South Texas Independent School District, TX
Senior: South Texas Academy for Medical Professions is without a doubt the best school in the South Texas area. The well-educated teachers, challenging academics, and college preparedness are only part of the reason why the school is so highly looked upon, but the resources available to students is what seals the deal. Technology is available to students literally at all times. Flat screens used to correlate to the curriculum, laptops or iPads available in almost every classroom, an open library that holds computers, printers, scanners, and even laptops, USB'S, cameras. and Wi-Fi hotspots that students can check out and take home! The acceptance of an advancing technology in the classroom is a part of the reason that the school is ranked top 20 in the state. Unlimited resources combined with the proper knowledge given by the educated health professionals is why Medical Academy is a part of one of the most successful school districts in Texas.

Parent: In this experiment I will be able to evaluate the the effects of the drug Erythropoietin(EPO) on a males cyclist performance. When collecting over the matter, I will be able to answer the question How does erythropoietin(EPO) affect, either hurting or enhancing, top 10 male cyclists’ performance in Tour de France, seasons 1998-2011? This topic is relevant since it analyzes an artificial substance(EPO), which replicates a human's natural hormone, and its effect on a human body through the trial stated above. This topic is of interest since it addresses a problem surrounding the sporting community, being doping. However, cycling is in question since it is known as one of the most common sports popular fro drug/stimulant intake. This experiment will help me discover how affected/popular the idea of doping is in cycling and the effect itself on the performance of a cyclist.

Los Fresnos High School
- Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District, TX
Alum: I myself went to Los Fresnos High School. I Graduated last year, June 2015. I have lived in the small town of Los Fresnos all of my life actually, all 19 years. My Experience with LFHS was very excellent! I enjoyed all of my years there. All of the teachers and the staff were very good. They really helped me out a lot and taught me so much. The food they served there was healthy but delicious at the same time. The clubs and activities they would have there were very fun as well! The students were super friendly, it was all one big family. I would highly recommend this high school.

Early College High School
- Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District, TX
High School Senior: My overall experience is perfection, it made me realize who I want to be in the future, who your true friends are, and of course which college I want to attend! Having to pick my favorite experience is a tough one due to the numerous experiences I have had here at Early College High School. One of them would be when we all go to Relay For Life in La Feria, Tx. This event that supports cancer and the families as well, it was a powerful moment and felt so much love there supporting those who didn't deserve that lifestyle. Another one would be at the end of the year celebrations of course! Everybody here celebrating the same thing as we move on to the next grade till we graduate, the whole atmosphere is always filled with joy and that's what makes ECHS unique. The infinite joy it gives to students/teachers and no other school can do that. To do all 4 years of high school will be insane, but ECHS would always be my number one choice because the place made me feel like I was number one.

Brownsville Early College High School
- Brownsville Independent School District, TX
Senior: If you thrive in small environments and want to get ahead in the college game, this school is perfect. Everyone here, from the staff to the students, are dedicated to their work, thus earning us the National Blue Ribbon Honors. The on-campus teachers do an excellent job at preparing the future upperclassmen for the schoolwork given at UTRGV. A draw back, though, is that there are no sports here, but their are more than enough clubs to participate in. The diversity here is also pretty low, due to the fact that BECHS is located in a predominantly hispanic area. Other than that, this school is an excellent place to learn at!
