Parent: Both my kids attended PS 31 and found it to be a challenging, supportive and community focused learning environment and they were always happy. The schools' attitude is to set high expectations, so ALL kids, regardless of background can perform at their very best.
This school send home regular homework and can be labeled 'traditional', but the kids are very well prepared for middle school. From my experience, any issues with discipline or behavior are handled promptly to ensure any negative issues do not protract or negatively influence the learning environment.
As the PTA has gotten younger they have made positive changes like instilling more regular recess and ensuring there are a variety of enrichment programs. The administration, while a bit old school, has always been open to discussing changes with parents and in recent years has gotten more flexible. They really 'listen' to parents and take things to heart because they really care. Was very sad to leave this school.... Read 1 review
