Licton Springs K-8
Parent: Our 6th grader loves Licton Springs. It's small, scrappy, prioritizes equity, justice, individualized learning for kids. The teachers and staff are kind, flexible, engaging. Classes are longer & somewhat experiential; kids take fewer at a time=enough time to get into subjects instead of switching every 40 min. They want to maintain spirit of school--Native-aware, safe, accepting, resource for kids who aren't thriving elsewhere, have non-typical life situations, etc. Webster building is nice but far west location makes it hard to keep up student #s and demographics (compared to being more centrally located=Kids come from all over. They were pushed out of previous location by SPS prioritizing wealthier/louder families at CES & RESMS). We love that Licton Springs champions justice and nurtures differences—ethnic, socioeconomic, neuro, gender, romantic preference, ability, racial, religious, cultural, etc. I wish we had sent our kid here since kindergarten!!...
