Senior: Overall my experience at Assumption High School has been pleasant. Every grade has tons of school spirit which is one of my favorite things about going to school here. In my years here, I have hardly ever seen bullying and when it does happen administration does not take it lightly. A few teachers aren't the best, but I do feel like most teachers genuinely care about how students are doing in class as well as how they are doing mentally and at home. I love Assumption.... Alum: I loved attending SHA! In addition to many opportunities through clubs, AP/IB classes, and sports, SHA also has programs to teach students about being the leaders of the future. The IB diploma program that SHA offers prepared me for college and set me up for furthering my education. But, the best part about SHA is the community. The teachers are always supportive of students, classmates are kind to all, and everyone makes uplifting others a priority. This is especially apparent in the classroom and at sporting events. Junior: St. X is a pretty good place. It has an amazing environment. I truly feel that I have a brotherhood there even if I am the only black student in my classes. The best experience I have had is feeling always challenged and learning the many new things. I truly believe they prepare us for college. My worst experience is freshman year. I was one of the few kids that came to St. X from my middle school, so I felt pretty lonely. It was also hard to make new friends because of Covid-19. Senior: I like how small and intimate Presentation Academy is. It is an extremely easy transition for a student coming from a smaller middle school. The student:teacher ratio is helpful, and allows for students to ask for help whenever they need it. Alum: I attended Catholic schools in Louisville in Elementary & High School. When I got out of the Navy I went to a Catholic college. I was hired by DeSales as a Biology & Psychology teacher/Soccer & Tennis Coach. I worked there for 37 years. I was made an Honorary Alumnus of DeSales in 2008! It was one of the best experiences I ever had in my life. DeSales has grown quite a lot since I first walked through the door & I truly believe it is a better school now than it was when I first arrived. That's one of the things that makes me think so highly of my experience there. Growth & improvement is important there, for the students, and teachers as well as the school itself. Physical growth & Spiritual growth are an important part of high school life. For many it is one of the most important places where our character is formed. Senior: I loved it mostly because of small class sizes allowing me to get the help I needed when I was struggling. Also the school has allotted time before school on Mondays and Tuesdays where the teachers are there early so student that need it can get help or makeup missed work. The faculty and staff are truly amazing and always willing to help, and you can tell they truly love teaching! Also, I love that my grade is only 100 people and I know and talk to each and every one of them. Junior: I am currently a Junior at Holy Cross High School, and so far I have enjoyed my experience! I have met so many different people, and I always feel included at my school. I have great teachers and enjoy all of my six class periods every day. We are taught in different ways to help us learn better, and offer unique classes, which include Freshmen Academy, Sophomore STREAM, Junior and Senior Internship Program, and more! This school is smaller and private, so it only includes about 300 (possibly less/more) people including staff. Parent: I have 2 children at Holy Spirit and couldn't be happier. The school challenges them academically (and challenges the parents as well!) while also nurturing their emotions and friendships. Parent: We have had children at St. Aloysius for five years and it was the best decision we could have made for their education, personal development and well-being. The faculty and staff are not only nurturing but are also innovative and committed to their own continuing education. It's a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence committed to maintaining that status and it's very conveniently located in Pewee Valley, just 3.5 miles from the Gene Snyder. My daughters have personally been involved in school sports, art club, choir, Girl Scouts, STEM activities and Summer Camp. Also, there is a weekly Girls Group for 4th and 5th grade girls hosted by the school counselor to address self-esteem, anti-bullying and personal issues which are critical at that age.
