Senior: In Reynoldsburg City Schools, I like that there are a lot of different choices for academic classes, so students never need to feel stuck with their schedule. There are a lot of options for classes like electives, different levels of mathematics, different sciences, etc. However, I feel like the discipline could be improved because during my experience here, I choose to be very respectful to every teacher and staff member, but a lot of students do not choose this. Senior: I’ve been in the Princeton District my whole life. It really is amazing, we have well-funded organizations, well-spoken staff and well-taken care of areas. We take in good people and make people better here. Dealing with all kinds of people is also great, the diversity is amazing. Doing what you love is encouraged here as well. It’s great knowing there are people on your side and people who care about what you want to do. Who you are a person is welcome, “come as you are” they say! Sophomore: I am currently attending a school within the Northwest Local School District. The school is Northwest High School, it is a great school offering many academic opportunities for students. Including AP courses, CCP, and Honors. There are people who attend the school, of all races, religions, and backgrounds. While this is a good school there is one thing I do think could change. One of these things being the school lunches. Many people (including me) say that the food they serve is an issue since most isnt preferably good. Alum: Ive been there since kindergarten and graduated in 2018. It is small and has a good amount of support in the community. In the schools you will find that 90% of the teachers are engaged with teaching students and life lessons. Many of them have been offered positions elsewhere but wanted to stay while others want to share their experience. During my senior year Finneytown started the housesystem which further helps students get involved have fun and become a community through competition. The housesystem taught me lessons on camaraderie and leadership. As seniors the lower classes looked up to us and I’m glad to have been able to make friends with people that I otherwise wouldn’t have made. Senior: This school has changed so much in my four years. We moved into a brand new building my sophomore year of high school. I genuinely feel this had a big impact on the overall moral around the building. People were kinder, more positive, and we had so much school spirit. My junior year, our varsity football team made it to the playoffs for the first time in years. No matter who you were or whether or not you cared about football, you were so excited for the team. Throughout this pandemic, the staff has made sure to do everything they could for us and put our mental health first. Senior: The overall diversity and inclusion of recent events in the everyday student life is a positive aspect of the Huber Heights City School district. There is undoubtedly a mix of very fine teachers and staff but of course, a few exceptions. However, this is not a surprise because all school districts have a few problems here and there. With an excellent sports program and slightly over average clubs and programs, the district gives the students opportunities to express themselves with their desired extracurricular activities. However, the career/college class options are extremely limited in the high school. This is not as helpful especially for the juniors and seniors that are determining their close future goals. With the recent Covid-19 cases, the school district has been very attentive with this matter. Overall, it is a great school district to attend, but there is obviously some room for improvement and I believe that with the new leadership, these changes will soon be implemented.... Alum: I had a very unique experience with Licking Heights in my later years, as my junior year was spent at a technical school, and my senior year was spent online due to COVID. Junior: While I have been in this inner-city school district my whole life and have no other experiences with school districts, it is fairly so my opinion may be biased. Even so, the South-Western City School district has been nothing but beneficial, helping me build upon all my academic skills, with more than plentiful teachers who all along the way have opened many doors to what I need to keep moving forward. Alum: My experience at Brooklyn High School was not that bad. My freshman year I had moved there and was very nervous about starting a new school and making new friends. It was a lot smaller than my old school, so I liked that because the relationship with teachers actually felt personal because they knew who you were and what period they had you. There were many teachers that I had that left a great impact on my life. What I did not like is that if you were not in the avid program which was like a college prep class you had a different experience. I had only written maybe 2 papers during my high school experience and when I started college I felt a little lost because I had no idea what MLA formatting was, so I had to teach myself how to use the correct formatting for papers. Senior: I began school in this district at the beginning of my fourth grade year. My elementary teachers were very welcoming, and I was placed into advanced classes, like my previous school placed me into. Once I got to middle school, I had similar relationships. Every time I asked a question, my teachers would make sure I understood the answer before moving on. They did this with all students in my classes. As a high school student, the teachers did the best they could with how many students came through their classrooms. At Westerville Central, my high school, there are so many students that seniors do not get lockers. Students cannot open enroll into my school from another Westerville high school because we have too many students. Junior: My experience with Winton Woods High School by far has been the best school experience I've ever had. To be more specific, the school faculty are caring and cater to your educational needs. The counselors work with students to aquire the academic requirements students must have to graduate, while simultaneously offers essential advice. Furthermore, they work with teachers and parents to figure out what are the best ways to help students succeed. Another component that I find fascinating about Winton Woods is the system they use. The school uses group based learning, which gets students ready to work in a group environment. Also, they offer therapy and accommodations to students the need it. Personally, I find the clubs/activities at Winton Woods astonishing. I have always wanted to participate in after school activities. Works Here: As a parent of 2 current students and a current employee, I absolutely love working in the WCS district. I started working here 3 years ago as a preschool aide and I am now a special needs educational aide for the district. I love working with different children and teachers. I am also enrolled in Eastern Gateway Community College in their Prekindergarten Care and Education program to obtain my Associates degree. Senior: Overall Shaker Heights is a great place to be a student and resident in. The environment is very friendly and welcoming and it is very easy to fit in anywhere you please. Shaker is highly diverse and strives to emphasize the important of race relations. I like how the school and its administration all truly care about the students and their future. I won't say that the school is perfect, but if the school system is similar to what it is now in the future I truly wouldn't mind enrolling my future children in the school district. One thing that I would like to see change is to abolish the tracking system within class levels. I have seen that the district tends to have a high population of white students in higher level classes started at as early as elementary school.
