Junior: Lunches are free and all the schools are in one general area. I like how the school is centered in the middle of our city so anyone whether they live in Pawtuckettville or South Lowell, they can all get access to our high school. Not only that, but our high school is also very large, with a student body of over 3,000. A problem with the large population though is the student to faculty ratio. The ratio is undocumented but for every teacher you can assume there are at least 20-23 students. Another problem I have with the Lowell Public Schools is their poor decision matrix. Sometimes they make decisions completely against those who vote and won't even take student opinion into consideration. Lowell Public Schools makes decisions for us changing the way we go to school without consulting how the students may feel about it. Sophomore: I've been going to Cambridge Public schools for basically my whole life (except for 9th grade, I moved for a year). I went to the Kennedy-Longfellow School, where I stayed my whole elementary. Whenever I pass by it I get very pleasant nostalgic memories. I especially loved kindergarten, where we had nap time. After Kennedy, I went to Putnam Avenue Upper School. It's a fairly new middle school and while it wasn't the best due to the pandemic and all, those were probably the most chaotic 3 years of my life. I don't miss it as much as Kennedy, but I met 3 other friends there - we're still friends now as I'm in high school. High school. I currently attend Cambridge Rindge and Latin, one of the two public high schools in Cambridge. I like it so far, it's my first year. Senior: I am an immigrant and came to the U.S at the age of 16. As far as I know BPS is the most diverse school district in the country and I can see that reflected in the high school I attended which is just for immigrant students. My school was very supportive through my process of adapting to the language and basically my new life here and also during the pandemic. Although I give it 4 stars because I truly believe that there's room for improvement with the resources available for small schools because just the three exam schools are the ones that get the more resources and support from the district, which is limiting for the students who attend small schools.... Senior: Though the school has its own problem with crowded halls and student fights, the students of Everett High School are genuinely nice and look out for each other. Knowledge of opportunities is shared between students so that everyone can take full advantage of their high school life. However, even though 80% of Everett High School students are minorities, most of the teacher population is white so it would be great to see more teachers of color at Everett High School.... Sophomore: Honestly, in my current district, there are student and program diversity. There is some bullying in primary grades but it's not too bad. There are definitely many activities, clubs, teams, sports, or events for anyone or everyone. Academically, in my experience FRPS schools typically have above-average content and quality. I take all Honors and AP courses, they are challenging but are enriching, and valuable, they are also true to the core curriculum. I feel my education, is preparing me for higher education, my career, and the real-world. Though my classes are tough and stressful they are insightful, and I feel that they are worth investing in. Another bonus is that teachers try to engage students as much as possible. I will not lie, as a student, sometimes I have to immerse myself in bland or reoccurring topics. Niche User: I grew up in Taunton. Overall, Taunton public schools have an amazing system and great people. Even after graduation in 2017 I still reconnect with individuals from the school system. Junior: Attending Pittsfield High School has been an amazing experience. Pittsfield High School offers many AP classes which I took advatnage of. There is so much school spirit, everyone gets along and it is very diverse. The teachers are wonderful, they always offer help and respond to your emails right away. I took AP Seminar class junior year which is part of the AP capstone, Pittsfield High School is the only school in Berkshire County that offers that program. Senior: Revere public schools is where I made all of my friends. With all the sports, activities, and clubs you have a lot of options to make and hang out with friends. Revere schools have just about every sport. I got to do cheer, lacrosse, cross country, and powderpuff. There is also a larvae diversity in revere public schools . As a girl who only speaks english I’m able to say hello in about four different languages. I transfered from the Northeast Metroplian highschool my junior year and came to Revere high school. This was the best decision because I really feel like i’m living the american high school dream. From the big football games, to competitive womens flag football, to pep rallys.
