Freshman: While attending Arnold O. Beckman High School, the school and district did their best to prepare students thoroughly. Teachers and staff were compassionate and encouraging towards students, which made the experience a lot more enjoyable. However, like everything in the world, it has faults. Often times, when there was conflict, the district would address it once, usually creating a new protocol, but after, would never enforce the protocol. Things like bullying and racism went over their heads, and although they think it has stopped, it hasn’t. In this district, they provide a safe learning environment, as well a provide students with necessary resources, which is why I gave four stars. Senior: I absolutely loved HBHS! From the friendly environment to the beautiful campus, I found myself loving every second of school! I recommend joining a sport and a few clubs to get the full high school experience and to easily make friends! The teachers were also very supportive and will work with you anytime until you fully understand the material. Take advantage of tutorial and office hours with your teachers. Senior: I've attended Troy High School since my Freshman year during the Covid-19 pandemic. Attending school via Zoom 3 days per week and in person the other 2 days. My high school was very well prepared to transition to remote learning and I felt the level of education I received was still top notch even under such a stressful and odd time. The educators were always positive and supportive whether online or in person. Going into my senior year this fall, I feel prepared to academically challenge myself even more than I already have. The opportunities I've received via the Troy Tech program at Troy High School, via my summer internship at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library will be a great asset to my future. Alum: I attended West Orange Elementary, Yorba Middle School, El Modena, and Orange High school throughout my k-12 education. Although I was a Santa Ana resident, I was able to attend any schools within Orange unified through an interdistrict transfer and I must say, it was the best decision my parents and I decided. The neighborhoods surrounding the schools were safe, teachers were helpful and friendly, and Orange High School supports every one of its students. I definitely feel that Orange Unified offers their students great opportunities and encourages their students to complete their post-secondary education. Parent: Four of my children currently attend Miller elementary school in La Palma. Excellent teachers with good communication skills with students and parents. Safe, warm and loving atmosphere. Great follow up with parents on school homework. I would highly recommend this school and the teachers. Senior: The experience that SVUSD has allowed me and my fellow classmates to have had been outstanding. The staff always makes sure students are doing what they’re supposed to be doing and more importantly making sure we are in a safe environment. Like every other school district there are many rules and/or staff guidelines that make us unhappy and unfortunately I experience some of those rules, but in the end I know that they are doing it to keep us safe and happy. The main theme the district seemed to go by was making sure everyone got the most out of their school experience. Senior: Brea Olinda Highschool is a great school! Awesome campus and student life is a positive and fun environment. Senior: I was in the NMUSD for all 12 years of my elementary and high school education. Overall, It was a great school district to be in, very high level academics as well as good high school athletics. Both elementary and middle/high school were very inclusive and offered lots of activities to participate in. There are a lot of APs, usually at least 1 that people can find themselves interested in. Senior: I loved Westminster because of all the school events we had. There wasn’t a week without the something happening. Wether it be clubs or classes something was always going on. I’ll admit we weren’t the best at sport but man were the games and practices fun. During the pandemic the school made it easy for us to be able to actually learn. We were constantly given opportunity to better out learning and offered many tutors. I personally am great full because I was very much affect by covid which hurt my academics but my teachers were beyond supportive. The only thing I can say is that sometimes our school had security issues were homeless people would walk in and we thought we were in danger. I would say that happened about once every 3 months.... Senior: Throughout my K-12 years with the Irvine Unified School District, I have been surrounded by the people I can trust to guide me through my academic journey. Teachers and counselors are able to provide the help I need WHENEVER I need it (whether that be academically, mentally, or financially). In addition, our united Vaquero community brings students together of similar interests in the best clubs, sports, and on-campus activities. The only thing I would change about the Irvine Unified School District would be to increase the number of Advanced Placement and Honors courses offered to high school sophomores and juniors. Senior: I have been in the Los Alamitos district since 1st grade as an out of district student, and I've noticed the district is mostly made of out of district kids. Without us, there would only be a fraction of students currently attending. People come from various counties and drives all to this college prep school and I agree that it is worth it. The schools encourage students to take courses from many many choices to cultivate an education the student could enjoy. The staff and educators are all supportive, kind, helpful, and experienced. The only complaint I have is the slight ignorance in the surrounding community, the best example is from the recent addition of ethnic studies into our curriculum of the high school. There was many protests from parents who assumed the class would be "anti-white" and mirrored the behavior onto some students.
