Senior: This school district really does care about helping their students succeed and making sure that they're ready for the next level. The diversity in this district is amazing for I haven't seen before knowing that some school districts have a large majority of one race. It has given me so many opportunities that I felt so blessed to feel like I was in a place where I could feel accepted and not judged by the color of my skin. I can't forget the school activities that occurred throughout the week! The sports, band, and clubs have allowed me to open out of my shell and go to these events and support not only my school but our district as well. I was even apart of my school's band, and I loved every single moment of it. However, I can say that I wish that some of the teachers were more understanding to us students knowing how we all have different ways of learning. that's the only complaint I have with the district which says a lot about how much I enjoyed being involved with them.... Senior: I've been in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District my whole life. I went to elementary school at Spring Garden and Meadow Creek, attended junior high at Harwood, and am currently enrolled at Trinity High School. This school district is among the top in Texas due to its academics, diversity, and high graduation rate of 99.5%. As far as academics go, HEBISD is unique because of the high level classes and programs that are offered like the International Baccalaureate Program or the BCTEA classes. HEBISD is also special because of its Spanish Immersion Program. I was in this program for 9 years and felt like I learned a lot about the language and culture. I personally have enjoyed growing up in this district because it's a very personal and community-based environment. I've always felt comfortable and encouraged by my amazing teachers and staff. Junior: The Elk Grove Unified School District provides students with a great and thriving enviornment to learn in. They are able to concentrate on their work and be open to many different oppurtunities like no other district. From my experience, Sheldon High School, one of the high schools in this district, provides students with a variety of sports, art fields, and extracurriculars that fit everyone students' interests. Senior: Overall, my experience at Susquehanna was okay. School events can be very unorganized and the lack of communication between the school adminstration and the teachers and students made it hard to understand what was going on. Some of the sports, like track and field, were also unorganized. The teachers, at least the ones I've had, seem to care about the students and their grades. Senior: Overall FWPS is a very good school district! I am currently getting my school rebuilt. This is something that will better our school because before we dealt with overcrowding and no parking spaces in the past, with a bigger school we have more space and more classrooms with more teachers leading to overall better education. I've been in the FWPS school district since I was in second grade and never had any issues with this district. I've learned a lot and now in my senior year of high school I've truly grown and blossomed into the person I am today with the education I got from going to school everyday. I currently have a 3.6 G.P.A and am on track to graduate and get honors and awards. Alum: My experience with the Hawai'i Department of Education (HIDOE) was, indeed, "very good". I feel very privileged to have been educated in such a culturally rich and diverse community by many qualified educators who are devoted to teaching and preparing the keiki of Hawai'i for the real world. I learned an immense amount of life skills during my time in the HIDOE, especially about the importance of sustainability and caring for the environment. That said, there were also some things the HIDOE presented to me that I would like to see improved. Though there were many qualified educators in our schools, there were just as many that were unqualified. The HIDOE is notorious for being in extremely high demand of teachers across the state, and a result of this is the employment of any person who is willing to fulfill the duties of being a teacher, minus the proper credentials. Junior: What I like about Gwinnett County Schools is the amount of cultural diversity. As a result of the diversity, I was able to participate in a variety of clubs and organizations that encompassed the diversity mentioned. Gwinnet County has also attempted to keep the community at large informed with regards to racial relations and educational classes to help educate all on biases. In addition to the diversity, I also enjoy the diverse academic programs offered. Gwinnet County has an excellent STEM program where I have participated as a RISE STEM student since freshman year! Our School in addition to our cluster schools won an award for STEM innovation and transformation in 2018! The STEM program helps prepare you for the outside world as the classes offer diverse learning styles from hybrid learning to co-op college classes while in high school. Senior: I'm a current high-school senior and I have had an AMAZING experience with my school. For a person dealing with many hardships and finance struggles, North High was very supportive and helped me in all the ways they could. I went from a depressed high-school sophomore failing half my classes who had no hope for my future to a successful high-school senior enrolled in National Honor Society & getting consistent A's/B's in all my classes. The diversity is very interesting here. You can find students of all colors, races, ethnicity or cultures. No matter who you identify as, you'll find yourself a home here. I feel safe here as well. There's a respectful and kind police officer that guards our school to keep us safe. She's done a very good job & is efficient with keeping everyone safe. Sophomore: The 2020 goal was ¨Equity for all¨ which the district did well in. There were food, technology, health(both mental & physical) resources offered to ALL students and the families of students. The ACPS 2025 goal is ¨Empowering all students to thrive in a diverse and ever-changing world¨They set this goal this year, with all the progressive movements coming to light. I feel the district (being made up of extremely diverse populations whether it is ethnically, racially, socio-economically, religiously, etc.) I feel that the district will be able to reach this goal of empowering all students. I already see ways that they are doing so. They have given students a chance to rename schools that were named after pro-segregationists, given less represented students more college readiness resources, and take advice from STUDENTS, not only parents on what steps need to be taken to better our school system. Junior: I like the welcoming feeling of the district a lot. My school specifically is heavily occupied by military students, so the welcoming nature of the community is part of what makes it thrive. I also see this district wide since I have many friends from all the other schools in the district. One thing that I think could be improved is spending. With the district in a money crisis down over 60 million dollars, some things just aren't necessary for the district's function. For example, I have heard that multiple high paying jobs at the district office are a "money suck." Other things that, although unfortunate, could be cut are certain sports with low activity rates like gymnastics or tennis. Even though there are some problems, one good thing that stands out is the diversity, with one of our schools being named one of the most diverse schools in the entire nation. Senior: MSDWT really cares about the wellbeing of students, and teaches them the key characteristics to have while growing up. For the most part, Washington Township has very good teachers and staff, but not always. When issues have been addressed by students, they usually do something to take care of it. This is my 12th year within the township, and it has been an amazing experience. There is a great amount of diversity, which has allowed me to discover different cultures, which I am so grateful for. Nonetheless, my teachers were all nice and reasonable. I would say a good change would be to hire more diverse teachers and staff. Junior: For our sports programs, Basketball, Track, Wrestling, and Soccer thrive. but, Football and Baseball kinda suck. Sports like Swimming, Tennis, Volleyball, and others are underrepresented. The Fine Arts programs here are Amazing (Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, Choir, and Theater), However, money is frequently an issue. For academics, It's a coin toss whether or not you'll like your core courses, however, your electives will always be amazing. Our Engineering program is phenomenal, even rivaling some colleges. The Community is welcoming, but it can be rather cliquey. However, you'll fit in just fine. There are a lot of great people here. There are many great teachers that you will instantly become friends with, but you'll have at least one bad teacher every year. Additionally, The Janitorial staff does an amazing job as well. Senior: My overall experience learning in East Irondequoit Central School District has been very good. Our district is very diverse which allows for students to have friends of all types of race and learn about different cultures. We are also a 1:1 district which means from grades first through eighth the kids are given iPads and the high schoolers are given laptops. This has helped tremendously with my learning especially during a time like this. The one thing I would change about East Irondequoit Central School District is the amount of AP classes they offer. The district has less than 5 AP classes for high school students to take. Senior: Harmony public schools are an amazing school district! The schools provide students with an abundant amount of STEM programs! Overall school environment is always clean and well maintained! The Staff and teachers are friendly and easy to approach! Students are always challenged to different real life problems in class. Students are also college-ready by their graduation year And have extra guidance with college counselors. Teachers are always open for office hours as well. As a student in Harmony Public Schools, my experiences in school and after school have been very good. The academic Curriculum is indeed challenging and involves real world problems. Electives are primarily STEM-based, and shadows a few careers in STEM. Clubs and activities (such as newspaper club, HOSA, NHS, robotics) are entertaining and interesting to be involved in! Senior: I have spend in Lexington City Schools for more than half of my academic life. When I just moved here, I did experience some bad grades. I had bad grades because I just had moved from a state where most of my core classes were taught in Spanish. Then I moved to Lexington where all classes are taught in English. Because of that, I was given extra help through ESL classes. After two years, I was back on track with my grades and went back on being a straight A student. In seventh grade I was put in the AIG program because of my successful grades.
