Niche User: I had pretty bad teachers, I felt like they were just...Bad, in general. Security guards are amazing people to know, one occasionally helped me pay for my lunch. Clubs were non-existent, but the school was easy to navigate. Each grade had their own wing, which is helpful. Really diverse, with minorities almost overcoming the white population. Student body was alright, nothing horrible. I was at the middle school before we even had a cafeteria, in my first year we had lunch in a spare gym room that always smelled funny.

Parent: Our son is currently in the 2nd grade. He has been at the school for two years, and it has been a wonderful experience. The enthusiasm of the teachers, who are truly experts in the subjects they teach, is infectious. They consistently set high standards for all students at every stage of their academic career. This is a school that prioritizes academics and the students themselves; it is targeted to students with intellectual curiosity and a strong work ethic. We are very happy here!

Longfellow Elementary School

Alum: I only went to Longfellow for five years. I first started in Longfellow at fourth grade, and I loved it. The teachers were amazing, and I loved the way the teachers would run lessons. They were hands-on, really allowing us to understand it. I stayed there up until eighth grade, and I liked it a lot. I missed out on some “middle school opportunities” like having lockers before high school, there were no clubs, and we did a block schedule, but everyone had the same exact classes at the same time, you never had a variety of students in your classes.

Senior: I've attended SCPA from grades 4-12. I've never felt out of place because everybody is so accepting! I've found both my arts and academics teachers supportive of my growth, and as a visual arts major, I've had many great opportunities to meet and receive feedback from successful artists. My instructors have provided me advanced professional preparation for college and a career in the arts. One thing I wish could be different is more support for collaboration between majors. I'm friends with many drama majors and we've had discussions about doing performance art together, but did not follow through because it is difficult to find the time and resources to do something like that without a starting platform like our school.

Niche User: Hello my name is Maria E Bonilla I'm a graduate from Horizon Science Academy in Lorain from the year 2016. Have been a student at Horizon Science Academy since my sophomore year of highs school. My experience with this school has been a bit of both great and not so great. While the they make a huge emphasis in education they lack the good quality nutrients to keep students engaged through the day. Their lunches are not the best quality. Good nutrition is very important to the quality of knowledge retained after lessons. the right source of nutrients helps a person keep students energized Overall, the school does an exceptional job at placing a huge importance in academics, supporting students, and maintaining a positive impression to all who visit the school.
