Senior: My overall experience at LACES was wonderful. I was a student at LACES for the past seven years, and each year my love for the school increased. The majority of my teachers, especially in high school, were passionate, engaging, and sociable. The school is incredibly diverse, and provides the unique opportunity to collaborate with students from every area code in the Los Angeles area. Senior: Stanford middle school that lies in long beach of california is one of the best school in america. It has a friendly environment for every students. Everything is excellent in there. I learned a lot of things from stanford. It was a wonderful experience. The school never lacked anything. I made a lot of friends there. Everyone was so helpful. Alum: I loved how welcoming all the friends and teachers even though I was enrolled in ccms only for a year. I also loved how diverse the student population was. I remember having fun with my friends after school on photography clubs going out and taking photos and learning how to photoshop. as for academics, teachers were all welcoming and nice. I can tell that they all really cared for the students. Because this is a public school located in rather low-income community, I think the facilities and food were not great. However, you can just pack your lunch and eat outside the cafeteria anyways. They have great clubs, library, and gym. I also remember doing summer school and learning how to code. I think diverse range of learning opportunities I was given, and diverse ethnicity I was able to make relationships with really was a good experience. sometimes during lunch they would turn on the music loud and would start dancing and that was one of the memorable moments I had.... Middle School Student: Marshall Academy of the Arts is a very great school for someone who likes art, as most middle schools would have 1 elective this wonderful school has 2 which is one of the reason I applied. The people in the school have great club to help out students who are lonely or needs help with schoolwork. Parent: Our child has been at Larchmont since kinder and has thrived. He went to the elementary Fairfax campus, a smaller campus with spacious classrooms, and he has loved the bigger Selma campus too. The leadership works hard to create an accessible and friendly atmosphere for the students and parents so there is a strong sense of community. The admin is collaborative and value parent input. The teachers are nurturing and attentive and know when to give students more help or more of a challenge. There are many enrichment classes (art, music, gardening, sports teams, band), a social-emotional curriculum and clubs. Most kids eat the (optional) lunch prepared in the Fairfax kitchen and is SO good. At Selma, our child has delved deeper into academics and developed new interests like government and digital media in clubs. Heard the school had problems 20-25 years ago, unfortunately the old reputation still lingers. Have not had an issues with my children attending, they excelled here and would highly recommend parents to look at this school instead of busing their kids 15 miles north west into the hillside of Los Angeles.... Alum: I think Palms middle school was overall a good school. Most of the teacher's, teach pretty well considering how disrespectful some of the students can be. The campus is very nice and big so on breaks the students have plenty of area to do exercise and go run around if they want. The food they give isn’t terrible but I know a lot of people would usually prefer something else. I think the food ideas can be better and instead of having frozen food maybe have someone cook the food instead. This provides an environment rich in motivation, kindness and learning. This school is probably the best fit for families looking for a diverse and friendly environment that uses social and emotional growth as more than just a component of academic development, but as its own valuable part of a strong education. We love the project based learning and critical thinking skills that our son is gaining through the International Baccalaureate (IB) program provided at the school. Alum: Newcomb is a safe school with great teachers and a cool new campus. I went there since kindergarten all the way to eighth grade and I grew academically. The school had a low population which makes it great to learn. However, since it is a small learning community, I did not grow socially because I grew up with everyone.
