Senior: Although I have my ups and downs in Malden High, I've made so many memorable friends and teachers that will last me a lifetime. The diversity is so rich, and how Malden in general celebrates that is incredible as I have never seen so much unity before in a city. I've changed significantly for the better, and I wouldn't have gotten the opportunities that propelled me without Malden or it's public schools (Which are amazing by the way). I can tell every day that our community loves Malden and the people in it. Senior: Lowell High School is a sprawling ever growing, ever evolving school. It may be old, but now it's rebuilding parts and adding new parts to the body from the students who asked for it, like the new gym building opening this fall the acefemics are great and entirely immersive, the diversity seems to grow even more everyday, as well as the teacher being respectful and impactful in the process. College readiness is well supplemented and has everyone ready for the college journey. Clubs and activity flers hang from wall to wall on every corridor and hallways you enter and the safety of the school are well monitored with cameras hidden amongst the entire campus as well as patrolling security guards. The administration and school culture are beyond excellent as the foods over there are constantly changing and adapting to more cultures. Sophomore: I love the diversity of the student/teacher population and how much we are able to learn about each other cultures while integrating respect for each other's faith as well as backgrounds. Academically, I feel adequately challenged and encouraged by both peers and teachers. I feel safe when I am at school and feel that I am able to approach my teachers or school faculty about any concerns I may have. In the future, I would like to see more opportunities for social interactions within the school day, as well as more hands-on learning. For example, going on field trips to witness first hand the lessons that is being taught, or to be able to gain practical insights on how the theoretical lessons we are learning applies in real-world situations.... Sophomore: The school is very diverse, including all the staff and teachers which is very refreshing to see. They offer over twenty AP courses and have about four pathways including biology and STEM. There is also a wide variety of clubs and after school activities that students can participate in. Overall, I think it is a very well-rounded school and if you're looking for something to offer you college readiness then I reccomend O'Bryant. Sophomore: The brand new building is a huge upgrade from the previous one! I really enjoy having my teachers and the extra mile they take to give frequent office hours, in-depth class lessons that go beyond just the syllabus, and the conducive learning environment. On a side note however, I do notice a bit of a division between students that are in the honors/GSA program oppose to the other academies. It’s sad to see in real time but there are still many great things about South! The various clubs and sports make for a wide array of extracurricular activities to choose from and you’re able to meet so many different people. I would definitely recommend coming here!... Senior: What I like about the school is that it has a rigorous curriculum that prepares students for college. The academics are more advanced than what you would get at most schools, so students are challenged more. The teachers are also very nice and do a good job teaching the material, and are easy to reach out to if you need help. The school is also very diverse with many students coming from different nationalities. A few things I'd like to see change are I'd like to see more clubs for students to join since I feel there are not as many extracurriculars as there should be, and I hope the food quality improves since I am not a very big fan of it. Junior: PART 1: If you are a parent considering CRLS and comparing it to neighboring schools such as BB&N I urge you to read through these reviews! CRLS offers notable arts programs and rigorous AP courses.The diversity in this school is great, with countless languages, and religions represented in our large student body. It is important to note though, that with this diversity comes challenges. Occasional instances of microaggressions, racism, and lack of forethought from administrators are some of the flaws here.The socio-economic differences are apparent, and friend groups while mainly diverse, are skewed more or less wealthy.We are politically active and kind, but like many high schools, bullying and online drama still exists. Note that pep-rally and football culture is low. Knowing the culture at places such as BB&N I am sure that Rindge is more accepting, but the academics and opportunities take more time to really take advantage of. Senior: My overall experience at Gr Lowell Regional Vocational Technical has been amazing. I made connections with my teachers, made new friends, and also be one step closer to my goals. I like going to the voke knowing I get to have the opportunity to get an education in academics and also in my field of trade; two education at once. I appreciate the staff and teachers pushing students to succeed and to believe in themselves. I remember when I was a freshman, I was a very quiet shy girl, who didn't ask for help even when I was struggling. As time passed by, I felt more comfortable reaching out for help. Help is available and people do care about you. GLTHS is a safe environment compared to other schools, like LHS. I enjoy going to the voke and I am so glad to receive my education here. Junior: I am a Junior at Worcester Tech and so far, I love it here! It's a very unique experience that other high schools don't offer. If you choose the right shop, you will have a great time here because you are focusing on something you are passionate about for half the school year! some shops might even get you certified so you can get a good job right out of high school. For example, if you choose Allied health, you might graduate with a CNA, and if you choose Cosmetology, you might graduate as a licensed cosmetologist. The teachers are great and understanding and there are many clubs and after-school programs. If you are struggling academically, there are so many opportunities for extra help like morning homework help, after-school extra help, and after-school homework club. Sophomore: My experience at Burncoat Senior High School was exceptional. The teachers treated students with respect, disciplined them when required, and always pushed us to become the best people we could be. The teachers consistently enforced our school motto, "be safe, respectful, and positive," which resulted in better behavior from students overall. My teachers made the classes fun, memorable, and original; they used different testing and grading techniques, which helped me learn the material rather than memorize it. The only possible complaint I could give is regarding the cafeteria food. While eating cafeteria food at Burncoat, I often got frustrated because the only vegetarian option at most times was sun butter and jelly or sun butter and fluff sandwiches. Senior: Overall, I'm genuinely so appreciative of the opportunities I've had at this school & I love coming to school. Personally, I have had a great experience here with the teachers, my classes, & the overall atmosphere (some of the time depending on general classes vs. AP or honors). I've absolutely LOVED most of my teachers & they have impacted me so incredibly much - generally, they are understanding, reasonable, & actually want to teach. The opportunities/resources given are great & extremely beneficial, including AP and honors classes, dual-enrollment with UMass and BCC, GearUP (college readiness - which has been EXTREMELY helpful with my applications/process), JROTC, clubs, sports, etc. I haven't had any issues with administration or particular teachers or counselors but I have heard of some stories. Senior: This is a great school. It's a really close and tight-knit community because of its smaller size. The teachers really help the students out as much as possible, and the school really tries to push the students to perform their best academically. Junior: Teachers are amazing, people are amicable, food is ok. Administration, however, has made some terrible decisions without regard to the students, parents, or faculty within the past few years. The school loves to hide things from us that cannot be ignored, like hate crimes in bathrooms and random decisions they decide to make out of the blue that affect your high school career. But, aside from administration, I really like this school. Finding a group here you can resonate with is easy and exploratory is super fun freshman year. Southeastern is a vocational school, so it is preparing you for a trade in the workforce rather than going to college/s. It is difficult since, personally, I am interested seeking a higher education, and am trying the best I can to stick out. A word of advice would be to research! Senior: Doherty Memorial High School has overall been a very well rounded school for me. Since arriving freshman year, i did not really know anyone since i transferred from a school barely anyone went to at Doherty Memorial High School in middle school. Although i would say i felt welcomed when i arrived even though everyone seemed to have their little own friend groups from middle school. Alum: The school has gone through many changes in the past couple years especially with the covid-19 outbreak. It’s a small school, capping at about 500 or so students. This is great since students get to be with people that they know throughout their years of schooling here. The school is very loving and has always put its students first. The one thing I would say would need some sort of improvement would be the promise of an expansion. The main campus is very small and can feel very cramped or boring at times. Junior: Boston Arts Academy is a great school to attend, especially if you are interested in the performing arts or visual arts. I am about to attend my Junior year and ill be more than glad to say that its a learning experience. I didn't get my freshman year sense school was closed because of COVID but I've learned a lot during year. It is a very hard school to attend, students have a longer schedule than other schools plus we have to work on time management sense we are being graded on both our arts and high school education. I have grown up within this schooling district and although there are many flaws that I and others can speak on, I feel that these flaws make Fitchburg High unique. Senior: Durfee High School is a great environment for whatever you want to do with your life, and whoever you are as a person. There is so much culture and diversity within this school, that there is something for everyone.
