Senior: Everyday, I have the privilege to enter a building that the janitors had cleaned the afternoon prior. I can go to one of the many vending machines the school provides, and buy a morning snack, a teenage staple. They provide breakfast and lunch so no student goes hungry, and most teachers care about the personality and wellbeing of their students. This connected community has spirit too! On Fridays you can enter to a wave of orange, and attend a sporting event almost any afternoon. This school also provides a wide array of academics in varying levels from resource classes to AP classes. Senior: I like school! I've always wanted to attend a school with an open campus so I can replicate the feeling of a college campus. There is a lot of trust and freedom in the school, while still having the opportunity to support struggling students. I applaud the way the administration is handling the COVID pandemic. I would appreciate it if the administration hired more counselors to accommodate for such large classes. My senior class alone has close to 600 students with five counselors and two college specialized counselors. I had a five-week wait for my recommendation letter. Senior: My experience at Peachtree ridge high school is really great because of the school’s excellence in academics and the diversity in the school. The school is a great place to study due to its warm environment as well as the supportive teachers. Also the school constitutes of a bunch of clubs which are really very exciting and encouraging for students. Senior: I like the inclusive feel from the counselors and staff, especially with the incoming freshman and the graduating seniors to help create a non-polarizing environment for students. Also, the amount of extra curricular activities and opportunities offered from the school exceed my expectations and previous school I attended. Junior: My experience with CHHS was pleasant. Throughout my high school years I have had amazing, supporting teachers. Collins Hill had many events such as cultural night which consisted of all the student body coming together and sharing their personal cultures through food, music, dancing and so much more. Being a mostly minority school, I think that Collins Hill thrives off of making all races, religions, and beliefs feel accepted through various forms of clubs and extracurricular activities. Being a minority myself, It was amazing to see how accepting the environment of my school was compared to others. All of the staff at CHHS are so friendly and truly did make my high school experience exceptional. I've become friends with many of the janitors and lunch ladies and have learned valuable lessons from them that I know I'll carry forever. Senior: Sprayberry High School is the perfect blend of diversity and inclusivity for all students in an environment-friendly high school setting. I enjoyed the learning experiences and the things I learned about life outside of the classroom. Although not every venture was a success, every endeavor I embarked on was something I could learn from and carry with me in the future. Alum: I went to Chamblee for all 4 years of high school and overall it was a good experience. Chamblee is a very diverse school and has many different sports and clubs for students to get involved in. Chamblee is a very competitive school academically and it can be very overwhelming at times (don't overload yourself with APs just because all your friends are taking them). There is an overall lack of communication between administration, teachers, and students which caused a lot of frustration and there is a lack of college readiness and support from counselors. There is also a separation of magnet and resident kids which was hard when being a resident kid. I often felt my needs were brushed aside for magnet kids. Overall though, I had a good 4 years. I made lots of friends and had a lot of fun. Remember! Senior: Mountain View High School has a lot of opportunity. The school has multiple AP and Honors Classes to choose from. They also have a dual enrollment program. The school offers multiple sports including football, basketball, swim, tennis, cheer, and dance. The school has every club you can think of! They have community service clubs, academic clubs, environment club, mental health club, and robotics. The teachers are mostly great and are genuinely intreasted in your child's success. Every School has its downs though. The counselors aren't that great. They provide minimal help when it comes to applying for colleges. The school also has multiple fights in a year. The teachers and staff immediately break it up and punish the people accordingly. The dress code at MVHS also has some issues. The idea is still for girls to cover up in order to not "distract" the boys. The school cafteria food isn't the best. Senior: Marietta High school was an amazing school and the experience was like none other. The school itself is an amazing building with a lot of natural light, improving the school experience. Marietta as a town has the most amazing school spirit, so many people living downtown come to the games and support the school. The teachers at Marietta are amazing, specifically in the "IB" program. Senior: The overall environment at Lanier High School is positive and encouraging! The teachers are great and always push students to be their best at all times. The sports program is well managed and is definitely a priority at Lanier high school. We have many sports options so there is something for everyone. I personally enjoy being a student-athlete and love the family-like atmosphere it brings to the school. The same goes for the clubs here, there are many clubs to join and the staff does a good job of giving students the opportunity to be creative and start their own group of their interest. Not only are the sports good but the academics as well, especially our stem-based program called CDAT, which is usually the center of attention at our school. We have half a floor dedicated to this area, filled with all kinds of machinery and equipment that is open to the students. Junior: I've lived in the Smyrna Area my entire life, so the idea of attending Campbell High as my High school Alma Mater has been inevitable. Before attending the school, i had heard the typical things a freshman hears when they start high school, "the bad parts" of the high school experience. I started high school as a freshman in the height of the Covid lockdown, not attending till sophomore. The school in itself feels like one big community. During the covid-19 lockdown, Campbell did its best efforts to make the school feel like a community regardless of it being pure virtual students. Even if you don't know someone, something will happen within the school and all the students seem to come together. Senior: Brookwood is a great school. Teachers have been supportive and helpful whenever I have needed them! I have particularly enjoyed the theater program. I have had the opportunity to meet a variety of people, learn about acting, stage craft, performing, and how to run a sound system. Participation in the theater program has helped me to become more confident. One thing I would have liked better was communication with students. As well, many parts of the school are very dated. They are adding buildings to account for the large number of students (4000), but areas like the theater are very outdated. Putting information in one, clearly identified space would have helped me feel like I knew what was going on. I feel truly lucky that Brookwood took the time and effort to create a prom experience for my classmates and me this year. Dacula has a lot to offer extracurricular wise and students can most always find something to participate in that they’re passionate about, whether it’s animation or cooking. Though not all students might connect to it, the school also takes initiative to facilitate a community bond. There are also particular staff that students can always rely on. Senior: One of the standout features of GSMST is the opportunity to take so many courses at the collegiate level; I was able to participate in 13 Advanced Placement (AP) classes throughout my high school career. This allowed me to challenge myself academically and prepare for college in a way that many other high schools could not dream of replicating. One of the highlights of my time at GSMST was the opportunity to see a bypass surgery live through the "Live from the Heart" program. Junior: My school is pretty new. It opened in 2017 and I started going here in the 7th grade and been here since that first year it opened. We have a great facility and great real-world opportunities. We don't have high-level drama or any prevalent bullying or anything. The atmosphere is a lot better than what you'd expect in a high school. The transition over from the middle-school to high-school program is definitely a lot easier than it would be at a 9-12 school. We have so much focus on both arts and academics, and while it definitely isn't your normal high-school experience (no sports or homecoming culture, no mean girl clicks, etc.) it's an experience I can say I feel was meant to be my middle/high school outcome. Senior: PDS is one of the greatest schools i’ve ever been in. The building is beautiful and modern and the facilities are clean. Besides appearance, PDS also has so much technology and tools for students to learn how to use. I’m on the engineering pathway, which means I spend a lot of time in the Paul Duke Makerspace, and get to operate all kinds of wood and metal working machinery. We also get to utilize Auto CAD design software, coding software, graphic design ware, etc in the many classes PDS has to offer. Presently, the engineering department is working on an outdoor garden space with mushroom beds and a greenhouse, which will be a cool space for future students to explore botanical or horticultural interests. The school is also working on setting up a 3D printing lab, because while there are a variety of 3D printers in the school, they aren’t in one central place for student use.
