Senior: I love my school only because of the Floyd academy. Floyd academy is another school inside the school. It’s for kids with anxiety and social problems, including kids that have exceeding grades to were they can graduate early same with kids who don’t have many credits they help to get you on track in no time. The teachers are amazing they are really like family. We recently just decorated our side of the school with paper snowflakes and chains hanging from the ceiling let me tell you…that was a lot of paper but the teamwork and leadership portrayed was what makes Floyd academy what it is the place to be yourself but learn to be with a team and grow yourself in the process to. Senior: My school is like most others. Most of the teachers really enjoy working with the kids. My favorite class is Government. I enjoy learning about citizenship. I have also taken many language courses. Currently I'm taking College Italian. My teacher has been inspiring. She encouraged me to join the Italian Honor Society and through her class, I'm able to get college credits. This opportunity is very important to me as I get ready to enter college in the fall of 2023. My school isn't perfect though. I wish there were more clubs that interest me. I am grateful that we have a cheer team, on which I am captain. We have had issues with coaching, however. This has caused our team to miss out on being part of the competition part of the sport. Senior: I'm originally from Flatbush Brooklyn NY and although my elementary and middle school education was fantastic, the selection or lack thereof to apply to a school out of my zone was not possible and my zoned school was awful academically or safety-wise. We certainly couldn't afford private school. Therefore, my parents and grandparents agreed that it would be best for me to move to Suffolk County Long Island to obtain my high school education. This was the only feasible option. It was the best choice possible and I'm happy that I will graduate June 2023 and will pursue my college education as a computer science major. During middle school, I took coding classes, an hour-long coding experience. In my sophomore year of high school. I enrolled in a class called, Graphic Communications. Senior: Overall, North Babylon is your typical high school. The school is very diverse amongst the student body and faculty. Depending on what teacher you have, some of the teachers are excellent while others need improvement. The school is very safe. We have fantastic sports teams and some of them are league champions! The food however could be better and I wish they would serve more healthier options rather than serving processed unhealthy food. Some of the resources are good while some could use a little more work to support fellow students. Alum: Walt Whitman is a unique experience. While I was a student, I had some very fond memories of the crazy things we did in class. The teachers I had were excellent. They were there to help us and support us when needed. Most teachers were approachable and understanding of life problems. The sports teams have seen improvement in the last complete of years, but that is probably attributed more towards the talents of the students. However, while I was a student, I believed there to be always clear favoritism towards the more well-known sports. Alum: This is the school that changed my life. As a high school student, taking BOCES my junior and senior year was a amazing experience and made the pathway to my future clear. This school provides interesting areas of studies like art design, culinary, video production and many more. These classes are designed to get students a feel for their area of study and to prepare them for the working world. The staff is excellent, and they want their students to excel and truly learn in their field. Alum: Great High school, has the best teachers ever! This school is in a small town on Long Island that doesn't have the best reputation. The town is pretty bad, violence is increasing, as well as gangs, and drugs. But the High school just seems to take the students out of that bad situation that their going through and let them get completely submerged in their work, and friends at school to take their minds off things. Senior: I feel privileged to have grown up in the Huntington Union Free School District and Huntington High School has been instrumental in shaping who I am as a person. The school's administration could not have been more considerate and accommodating. Senior: I liked the overall interior of the school and the majority of my teachers were very nice and supportive! I felt like I could go to them if I needed help with something. There was also little to no bullying among students, which is pretty rare in schools. The school is a little difficult to navigate because a lot of hallways look exactly the same, but once you get the hang of it it’s not so bad. If I disliked any teachers, it was a personal dislike. I would advise against taking the Media Arts course though, since it is extremely outdated and barely teaches you any skills you can use (especially if you were already studying film, art, and animation).... Senior: My 4 years in Patchogue-Medford has been with many achievements, hard work, studying hard. The school is great! You have excellent teachers that do their best to guide you. Everyone in the staff is friendly and very patient with everybody and understanding. Patchogue-Medford gives you so many opportunities to succeed in life. They have clubs, for example photography club , Key club , etc. Something the school should do differently is how you arrive in the morning. Senior: Newfield is overall a great school. I've enjoyed my three years here thus far, most of the teachers are kind and offer extra help if needed, and the environment is relatively pleasant. There are plenty of opportunities to take more rigorous courses if desired, and college advice/planning is given out in surplus.
