#23 Most Diverse Public Elementary Schools in Dane County
Alum: I attended Olson Elementary from 2009-2014 and I enjoyed my experience there. The teachers genuinely cared about their students and were strict enough to limit behavior problems immensely (something that the Middleton Cross Plains Area School District, which I have since moved to, does not do well). The school was very diverse. There were many fun opportunities and activities for kids, including a carnival, pajama dance, and monthly fun/academic nights with family. There were constantly parent volunteers. The facilities were great. Bullying did happen, at least for me, but once reported to a teacher sufficient action was taken. For academically advanced students, programs could be stronger, but most teachers I had were willing to add special assignments for students if needed (even if administration did not have further programs). The food was good enough for kids, and the nurse was very kind. I had a lot of fun at Olson.
