Parent: I have been a Roycemore parent since 2003; all my children are either alums or currently enrolled.
Academics are consistently top-notch. They offer differentiation every step of the way, challenging each child at their level. Writing is emphasized throughout the school in a variety of ways, from extemporaneous in-class writing to detailed research reports to personal essays to creative stories. The science curriculum is strong, with lab work at every level.
Extracurricular offerings are slim compared to bigger schools, but students learn how to mentor each other so that the team can be the best possible.
The arts curriculum here is superb. Ruth Hecht is an excellent artist and an excellent teacher.
It is a small school with challenging academics and high expectations. It helps set a foundation for the remainder of the child's life, not only with academic and intellectual skills, but also with emotional maturity, interpersonal relations, and social and civic engagement.

Senior: It’s a very diverse and substantial community. The teachers there are extremely helpful and patient with students, that are in need of help. I recommend joining clubs and sports, such as, Equestrian, International Club, Art Club, and Fencing, because it’s not often every high school offers or provides these opportunities for students to join, which is why this makes Marian Catholic High School a great to learn and explore!

Alum: Morgan Park Academy cares about it's students! You are able to get one on one assistance with your teachers if you need help. I attended this school from pre-school-3 to 12th grade, needless to say I was a super lifer at that school! Although the class size was really small (<30 graduating class) I really think that helped me learn to understand others and navigate through conflict. MPA prepared me for my college career through academics and the general care it has for students. If you (or someone you know) is considering MPA, do it, looking back I am grateful for the lessons I have learned (academically and socially) as a result of being a student at MPA.

Junior: The current experience at De La Salle Institute has shifted in a sense that I would like to be further involved in advanced course and available college courses in my early high school careers. I would prefer for students that exemplify themselves as being outstanding to have the opportunity to showcase that said knowledge in further advanced courses. In terms of the financial aid, I've had two other relatives attend before me yet my single mother of 4 still has to pay a full tuition. On a side note, the extra-curricular activities and sports have a very wide variety and are heavily funding. As for students who seek a school for the arts, music, and theatre, I recommend looking into a different institution. De La Salle holds true to most tradition as I know from my older siblings, and it continues to pride itself on being one of the oldest institutions in the city of Chicago. As a student, I take into account the long history of being a De La Salle meteor.

Alum: My time at LFA has been the best 3 years of my life. I got to learn from very enthusiastic teachers both inside and outside the classroom as well as from my diverse and open friend group. I was encouraged to experience things I have never tried before and ended up loving them, such as stage crew (Yes, Koenig!) and entrepreneurship (Go Matt!). I am very glad to have called LFA home. It had shaped me into a better person, a more curious scholar, and it also allowed me to influence it, and make it a better place. I just hope the school spirit to be less of a stress culture, and instead be a dynamic and fun community.

Alum: I thoroughly enjoyed my time at The Einstein Academy. It was a great experience, and the community was always very welcoming and fun. I highly recommend this school to any family looking for a safe environment where their children will have all their needs met, whether social or academic. The teachers are very friendly and seem more like family. Whenever I or my peers had difficulty with a subject, the staff would always take time after school and give extra in-depth explanations. Also, classes are more than just taking notes, they are hands-on activities filled with laughter and excitement.

Parent: I currently have 4 children attending SCS in various age groups and they have all been there since kindergarten. We are very pleased with the school and my children have received a well-rounded wonderful Christian education! Many of the teachers are very caring and teach with a Biblical perspective that I expect to see in a Christian school. Although some may feel that the school doesn't have as many clubs and activities that many public schools and larger Christian schools have, I feel that SCS uses the resources that they have to engage the students in as many different aspects of school life as they can. The tuition costs are much lower than many of the other Christian schools in the area and so I feel that for what we are paying for tuition, the school gives us everything we need. My children will leave SCS equipped with everything they need to go to college and most importantly, will have gained an education that is based on God's word.

Niche User: If you were looking for a family-like school this the school for you. This environment is not school like but like having a second home. From it being a small school and knowing everyone and their names. Here I was able to open myself up to everyone because I would have some of the teachers for not only one class. So I grew a bond with some of the teachers. The best part is that if you're failing one of these classes the teachers will help you out on Wednesdays after school. Might not be the best school for sports but in one on one teaching might be one of the best schools. The teachers here try to make you feel like home and also the students. For the most part, everyone gets along and is welcoming. That's why I didn't mind coming to school every day. One because I had friends and activities to involve myself in and the good teachers.

Senior: What I liked about DLS was the atmosphere, overall. All the teachers and counselors are there to help you no matter what you need. Whether it's tutoring or if you just need someone to talk to. The students may have had a few bumps in the role, but we all supported each other. In the end, we are all women and we all support each other. One thing I would like to see changed is it not changing! The girls school is merging with the boys school and I believe it should stay separate. I feel both boys and girls can focus better this way, and everyone would feel more comfortable if it just stayed the way it was now.

Sophomore: I honestly like Lake County Baptist School. It is a small school so you are able to get to know everyone. I like the teachers and the staff that work there. When my son graduated high school he was ready to attend Columbia College, he felt prepared! Now I have a Freshman also at Valeo who had an awesome time in Jr High. Senior: Depaul college prep is a wonderful school. Every teacher and faculty member makes it their mission to help you with anything you may need. The teachers are nice but there are of course a few special teachers that are honest and real with the students, and those are my favorite. There are always counselors around if you need help with college or just feeling stressed and need to talk. If you need help with homework or just understanding the subject better, there are programs such as our EDGE program to help. It’s a smaller school compared to most public schools but its growing. There will be a new campus with whole new facilities next year. The student at Depaul prep are very kind and active in the school. There are many different clubs for everyone if you need somewhere to learn more or just share an interest in something. Depaul Prep is diverse, safe, and has everything you need to succeed.

Middle School Student: As a Middle School student the University of Chicago, the classes are very academically centered. The teachers are very knowledgeable of the subject they teach. However, the amount of homework received throughout the average week can be overwhelming, possibly making the Middle School experience stressful and overwhelming. The diversity in the school is quite exceptional. Unfortunately, if you do not have a sibling currently attending the school, or a parent who works at the University, you will find it a near impossible feat to be accepted into the school.

Parent: Gateway has shown over and over that they genuinely care for my sons. I made a difficult decision to switch my children at a critical time. I wasn't sure at first that I was making the right decision, but once I saw their response after the first week, I knew it was the right choice. My oldest son is excited about continuing his pursuit of business in college after graduation and my youngest is now exploring sports and an interest in engineering. He never displayed these interest before Gateway. The teachers have been able to create conversations that allowed my children to explore and experience new things. I have watched my boys come alive and develop their passions because the teachers have shown a genuine interest in helping every student. I am so thankful I put both of my children in this school.
