Junior: Federal Way High School has really great teachers. They all know how to attend you and help you if you’re ever stuck. They all individually have great ways of teaching and helping you practice the topic or term we are learning. They all also understand if you are ever having home issues, any type of issues really that make your life at school any difficult and cannot turn something in on time, if there is a deadline. I have always felt welcomed every year I have been there, you can easily make friends or at least have decent classmates. Everyone are usually very kind too. The sports as well are so good and very fun to watch, since we have really good players and the ASB have made the games fun with chants and more. Federal way overall has really helped me and made me feel safe along with the people in it. It’s a good location too since it’s not far from the food stores and more. Junior: I like the diversity. It's a great thing to find kids that are different from you and befriend them and learn how different they are from you. Playing and learning simple games that they grew up with, helping them recover their home sickness they hide beneath their laughs and giving them nostalgia. However, as much as we celebrate our differences and diversity I wished we can celebrate our similarities. Whether it's our religion, similar culture clothes, how our parents will never understand our difficulties, how we envy the Emilys and Jennifers, and how we wish so bad to be American, trying to forget our roots, our ancestral names, our cultural food. Parent: My son has done so well at Summit Olympus! As a child that struggles with learning, the smaller class sizes and specialized learning experience has made such a difference in him. He has been able to access extra help after school, and the teachers really encourage him to be self motivated and responsible for his academic success. I was especially impressed with how quickly the school had the learning platform up and ready, and the teachers learned how to use online teaching methods when the school shut down for COVID-19! My student was down a couple of days of learning, while most schools were down weeks to even months before they were really up and running. Senior: When one enters high school, you start to have some expectations as to how and what you will be learning. You want to keep learning and have great teachers that keep you on your toes that truly care for you to learn not memorize. Foster High School has one of the best teachers I've seen compared to the ones I had in Mexico. Alum: Overall experience as a student was very good. I believe the staff and all teachers who were employed at the time I attended all truly wanted the best for us students. Though the school lacked many things physically, not being a wealthy school didn't help, but the atmosphere and experience was made up by student life. Clubs were always ensured to run, small clubs to big ones, they were all treated the same to accommodate for every student. Accommodating students was one of the key factors, though the school lacked the highest level or most advanced technology or resources, the staff always accommodated for that. The community feel is what made the school great, we had a fairly small school, so each student got to feel like they belonged. Senior: I love Mariner high school becuase it provides bountiful opportunities for students to be involved academically and in extracurricular activities. For example, they provide academic programs such as the veterinary program, teaching program, dual enrollment, AP courses, and honors courses. In addition to academics, they offer a variety of extracurricular activities such as sports, about 100 different clubs, and even after school study hours. Sophomore: Mount Tahoma's administration is fantastic, and they are always willing to help students. T-Birds' commitment to making a positive difference in the community is admirable and should be commended. The staff constantly goes out of their way to make people feel welcome, and I believe they succeed admirably. On the other hand, everything has drawbacks, and Mount Tahoma is no exception. Students can be cruel, and I believe that there should be more discussion about bullying both in person and on social media. Senior: Not only do I love Auburn High School's beautiful architecture, but I also love its teachers. Every teacher has been very kind and sweet to me since I transferred to Auburn my junior year, and I am very grateful that they've made my transfer go smoothly. I have also made many friends here as well as fun memories with sports and clubs that I'll never forget. My only big criticism is that physical fights between students can happen quite often. I myself have never felt in danger here, but there have definitely been multiple altercations here. You can go online to check your kids' grades and attendance daily. The school has Student Academic Services to help meet students' needs. On-campus tutoring is available. B4 & Aftercare, music lessons, Chess, STEAM classes, soccer, volleyball, and basketball (both played on an NCAA rated floor) are available. The school has the AR reader program, Spanish, Technology, Art, PE (high school athletes have an exercise gym). Hot lunch + salad bar. Bullying isn't tolerated!. Students are given instructions on what to do if they encounter bullying. PCA has an International Student Program. Senior: Overall Lakes High School is a very good school for kids that want to go off to college. Lakes has a football field, tennis courts, multiple baseball fields, and their own basketball court. Lakes high school has an elite sports program and performs at the top in their state every year. The teachers care a lot about the students and are willing to stay with them after class for help. The reason that Lakes got a 4/5 and not a 5/5 is because of how they handled Covid-19. I will give them the benefit of the doubt, however, the school should have more material online. Senior: The school is pretty good. There is actually staff here who really do want to push you to the ends of the earth with you succeeding and having a great future. The staff is nice and our councilors really help out too. Teachers go out of their way for you by giving you help, making deadlines extended for work, and or doing something that works for you. The campus is pretty average, with not much scenery beside the inside with bridges going from one side to the other. The art gallery when heading to the art room has art stored from kids who made art in art class. Leadership even posts posters of pretty nice art based on events we eventually do have to match the theme. The school isn't open on campus but they do have a student store and Ale Cart that you can buy more snacks and drinks from if you are still hungry after school lunch.
