Senior: As someone who's going into their senior year, I can comfortably say I've loved my experience at Enloe. I've always loved the community--- the students and staff come together to create a unique environment that welcomes all kinds of students. Even through the pandemic the school worked hard to keep this sense of community and I really appreciated their efforts to make sure students had everything they needed to continue their education, despite the circumstances. Senior: To start off, the education opportunities are amazing. Being a magnet school means that the classes we take are more specific and unique to future careers. We have two academies, STEM and Health Science. These two academies provide students with classes that are specified to their liking and provide real world experiences of what their future career may look like. Along with academics, the people are what make Athens. The high diversity means that you can make friends of all different kinds of backgrounds. You are able to become more well rounded by the different races, cultures, and ethnicities at our school. The teachers also play a big role in preparing us for college through SAT prep work, college visits, and their classes in general. Sophomore: I am a sophomore at Wake Early College of Health and Sciences, and I got to say that it has been a great school so far. The teachers here are great as they are very knowledgeable of their subjects and capable of explaining concepts to students. In addition, this school provides us with many opportunities to learn more about different careers. As a part of our early college program, we become full-time college students at Wake Tech. This is great considering that we get to graduate with an associate's degree at no extra cost. Junior: I am currently a rising senior at Rolesville High School. After 3 full years at the school, I have been able to experience a lot that It has to offer. Out of the abundance of clubs to join I chose Key Club, DECA, FBLA, and NHSS. It is a wonderful after school activity to meet new people with similar goals. Each club opens up a new opportunity to get involved with the community and each other. For example in Key Club, I've been able to participate in countless food drives, and actually aided in loading trucks filled with canned goods! I've also experienced athletics (soccer) and love the competitiveness! Your team is like a big family. The teachers are extremely helpful, as well as the faculty and the counselors. Going through countless honors and AP courses, I can say it definitely challenges a person, however, it is 100% worth it in the end. I am very excited to go into my senior year! Works Here: A tiny school with a big heart. VMCCA offers students and entryway into career paths while also preparing them for college. A deeply caring staff can focus on individuals due to the small size of the school. Alum: I attended Raleigh Christian Academy from birth until I graduated. Being at this school for such a long time I was able to really see the emphasis the school puts on faith, leading, and equipping every student. Every single teacher was and is willing to share their faith with the students and answer with the best of their abilities any questions students might have concerning faith. The teachers at RCA is one area that makes them stand out. The teachers have a genuine concern with helping the students. There were a few teachers that helped form me into the young man that I am today and I will forever remember that. The extra-activities outside of the class room are exceptional. The music and athletic programs are outstanding. The music department has dozens of 1st place finishes and even some national places. Senior: Garner High School's staff and students make me feel at home. The diversity and the people here are heartwarming and very open minded. I've made really good friends here and teachers who understand my circumstances. In the beginning of the school year, I've struggled tremendously and I was scared to talk about it with people at my school, or even the staff. During the time, my parents were going through a financial crisis where we didn't have any light or transportation. I ended up writing it in my personal statement essay, and when they read that, it hurt them. They were genuine and very kind. I couldn't ask for anything more heartwarming. It was so nice. I even ran track and field, and I'm glad I made new friends, and got to hang around them. I am forever grateful for the environment I surrounded myself with and the new beginnings! Sophomore: North Wake College and Career Academy is a wonderful school and place to learn. The teachers are supportive and are genuinely concerned with the learning and understanding of course material. Through PBL projects, we get to demonstrate what we have learned in all of our classes while working collaboratively with our peers. Furthermore, the smaller class sizes allow all students to be a part of class and the teachers are able to make daily connections with everyone in the classroom. Alum: Overall, I had a very good time at Cary High. The student body is diverse and most people I know found their place in a group of people with common interests. Senior: I transferred to Knightdale my sophomore year and unfortunately, COVID-19 cut some of the experience I would have gained from Knightdale. But, returning this school year I've been able to join Student Government, apply to join National Honors Society, and plan to join Black Student Union. I've grown closer to and faculty and notice that they overall care about and attempt to build relationships with all students. All teachers and administrators do their best to help you reach your goal through offering college resources, internships, writing recommendation letters, etc. My counselor has been so helpful in helping me earn college credits that I'm on track to graduate with my Associate's degree at the same time I graduate with my high school diploma. Senior: East Wake High School is definitely a good school. If you are looking for a lot of opportunities then the teachers are there to be of help. They also have a lot of programs where you can start going to college while you are in high school. That is very helpful for certain students who have a lot of years of schooling ahead of them. Also they make it very simple so it's super easy to understand. East Wake High Schools mission is to educate all students to be college and career ready and to be valuable contributors in the community. Their vision is to have a safe and diligent learning environment in which all students and staff are inspired and supported to reach their full potential. But one thing I would change is definitely the food, I have not eaten school food since my freshman year. Senior: From my personal experience of being a student at South Garner High school, I would say the school is very good. Mostly everything about the school is really good, like the classes, teachers, students and overall learning environment. The teachers and admin provide a wonderful learning environment for the students and make sure the students feel comfortable and safe while attending the school. There are a variety of classes that students can choose from and there are many clubs/activities that help each and every student bring out their creative side. Most of the students that attend South Garner are friendly, kind and helpful, so most likely you will be greeted with a smile as soon as you enter the school. The only things I would say to look out for at South Garner would be the school fights that happen almost every other day, the cafeteria food that is not healthy at all and looks unappealing and sometimes the teachers will have attitudes or will not be helpful at all.... Junior: Millbrook is recognized for being an academically rigorous and athletic institution. The educational division offers a variety of classes, most of which require hard labor. Everyone in our close-knit family knows everyone. The most of the time, the teachers are kind and enthusiastically assisting us in our academic success by teaching us differently. Even though the school places a strong emphasis on both academics and athletics, there is always space for growth. The school falls short in preparing us for both college and life after graduation. Personally, I believe that among other things, we should be taught how to prepare job and college applications, file taxes, and graduate from college debt-free. The social aspect of school is lacking as well, many of us struggle with anxiety when attempting to earn the best grades, and we rarely have anybody we can turn to that makes us feel comfortable and it doesn’t help when our teachers fail to ask us about our wellbeing.... Senior: I can say that I have gained a lot in my time at WYMLA. Having gone here since 6th grade, I have seen the school undergo many changes. Overall I feel like It provides a lot for its small size and does a great job at providing academic opportunities for students. I nearly transferred during my freshmen year but I am glad I did not. WYMLA provides an interpersonal experience where you can become close with all of your "brothers" like at no other school. Senior: As a senior about to graduate, after reflecting on my time at Sanderson, I have to say that overall I have enjoyed my time at this school. I have thrived personally and academically, made the most of my time, and made friends along the way. I am a strong believer that high school will be what you make of it. Senior: Overall, fairly good school. Good academics (offers all non-obscure APs in HS) with strong teachers in all your core classes. More flexibility than most schools, very accommodating of students charting their own course through taking advanced classes. Never felt unsafe. Prepares you well for college. It's a smaller STEM school, so sports are middling. You'd think the clubs would be strong, and they can be, but only when students or parents take initiative/leadership and take over the club. When this happens, strong resources are provided. When it doesn't, clubs fall into disrepair until another leader comes along. The schools weakest point is admin, which seems to be quite bad. Teacher management is bad: I've seen teachers dealing with unreasonable/confusing demands, and more than one leave because of it. Parent: We have enjoyed Wakefield High School very much. There are so many classes, including AP courses, to choose from and clubs/sports to participate in. Numerous leadership opportunities for the students as well as community and parent involvement. My daughter is only a sophomore but has already had the opportunities to build an impressive resume. Also, if you have younger children the proximity to the other schools is really convenient! For whats it's worth, my daughter went through Wakefield Elementary and Wakefield Middle and was very prepared for high school. Can't speak highly enough about all three of the Wakefield schools!...
