Senior: I've attended Grove since 7th grade, currently a rising senior, and I feel that I missed out on the "normal" high school experience. Grove doesn't offer many classes that are advanced, which can be a real bummer to many students. Grove makes it easy to personalize what you want, and how to make the school your own. From starting clubs to making your agenda, Grove is very open to the student's decisions. It focuses on the students doing their own work rather than the staff doing it all for them. It is a small school, meaning you will practically know everyone, including teachers. This can be good or bad depending on students. Parent: The school has a great academic program. My daughter went in not knowing much and in 6 months she knew her alphabet sounds, counts 1-30, speaks longer sentences and is more creative with her hands. Parent: The most important thing to know about LePort Montessori is that the approach to education is fundamentally different. It is a child-centric environment that focuses on the qualitative needs of each child rather than on quantitative performance metrics. Children learn to love learning instead of learning how to pass tests and outcompete their classmates for better grades. Instead of taking a factory assembly line approach, with each child being an identical input, LePort recognizes that each child is a unique person and each is smart and capable in his/her own way. The school has a peaceful environment where everyone is valued and respected. Children learn to be self-motivated and independent. Rewards are intrinsic rather than extrinsic. Alum: I remember this being a really good school, overall. My only big hang up when I went there was that teachers did not help students who were struggling as much as they could have. I vividly remember being told to stay after school when struggling with math, so I could work on it, and then being left in the classroom alone with the lights off, continuing to do the math wrong. Parent: I have a 2 year old boy and we just started to take him to school, he loves it! It only took him less than a week to get adapted and he is asking to go to school everyday. I love how the teachers take extra care to keep the parents at ease when going through the separation at school. They even texted me videos of him playing at school to keep my mind at ease.
