Senior: JT Williams Secondary Montessori is the only public middle/high Montessori school in the state of North Carolina. It is a part of Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and is found listed under the Magnet Program options. Williams is a located outside of downtown Charlotte on a unique multi building campus. The school takes advantage of its location by participating in many community service events within the Charlotte area. By design, Williams is a grade 7-12 school with a smaller than average student body. The small class size allows for a much more personal learning experience, which includes multi grade classes, the ability to build strong student/teacher relationships and create and maintain closer friendships with other students. Williams offer a variety of electives from Forensics, to American Sign Language to Agriculture and the Arts. Parent: ILIM School is one of a kind! My daughter is thriving at her school. She is learning four different languages, English Mandarin, Spanish and Arabic. It’s not a lot for a child, they soak it up, this is the age to do it! My daughter doesn’t realize that she’s actually learning the languages because it’s full immersion and interactive. It’s a lot of hands on and learning through play, which is one of the fundamentals of Montessori. They have a lot of activities and manipulative, which gives kids a great foundation to learn concepts, and to cultivate the love of learning. The school is also very diverse which teaches the children how the real world looks at a young age. They also learn about different cultures. The classroom sizes are small, which gives them a lot of attention. It’s just an overall amazing community filled with warmth and positivity. Parent: Charlotte Prep provides a nurturing, positive environment, a top notch curriculum and a place where your child is not just a number. Our daughter has thrived at Prep due to the outstanding, dedicated teachers who teach academic lessons plus lessons focused on social skill and leadership development. She has had the opportunity to take excellent classes that align to her interests (including STEM, Technology, Music, Drama, Spanish, and PE), and the school constantly offers new learning options. Prep offers small class sizes and a diverse and truly welcoming community. We toured so many private schools in Charlotte before making our choice, and there really is nothing like Prep. Our daughter loves Prep so much that she literally skips to the front door of school each day. If you are looking for a place where your child can shine, look no further than this school.... Parent: This school is wonderful. The staff, the admin, and the parents care about the kids' success and growth above all else. This isn't a drop your kid off, pick them up, and don't think about it until tomorrow morning school- CMSLN is a community. The life skills and critical thinking that I see my kids developing here play out everyday. My kids want to learn to button their own coats and tie their shoes, they want to practice writing letters, and they love exploring nature.
