Junior: My experience was a good one. Despite Newark is supposedly a bad city but the teachers there care about their students and they push us to surpass our own potential. I am very grateful to have the teachers I had over the course of my 3 years of high school. I am now entering my 12th grade of high school and will be graduating the year of 2021 with nothing but memories. All the stuff my teachers taught me I will most definitely carry that with me into my adult life. All the life lessons and examples they gave us I will remember. One thing NPS should change is to be more challenging when it comes to certain situations. If a person who constantly get A's in the class they should be promoted into a more difficult course than others. For example, the AP class. Senior: I have been in the Elizabeth Public Schools District my whole life. Since the age of 5 till this day, I have lived and viewed the culture of the Elizabeth Public Schools Community. I personally love it. As a child I would want more than what I have, but when I grew older, I recognized that The Elizabeth Public Schools are of much help. The school that I went to for middles school, I loved. I loved the teachers, that supported me always and the staff that always knew how to make me smile. There is a lot of diversity, and I love speaking with others about their culture and life, and their plans for the future. Sometimes the uniform can get uncomfortable, but as a student, I have understood why uniforms are crucial. Niche User: My experience living in the union city school district has been nothing but nice teachers and very helpful administrative personal. Most of the staff are very sweet and tend to help you when you need their help. When joining the district, they are able to help you with class setups and even with college-ready classes to make sure the students will have help through the years, and that way your student doesn't feel so alone during everything. When it comes to parents and teachers, normally they have a lot of interactions with one another and sometimes even have events that can help out the community do better for the future generations. I do want to mention the number of activities there are for the students to get involved in and be involved with the community to make sure that they stay on the right path and aren't getting into trouble. Senior: I have been a student in Hamilton since I was in kindergarten and I must say that this district treats all the students like family. Especially at my high school Steinert they do their to make sure we have a great atmosphere in school. One thing that I really admire about Hamilton Township schools is that we all work together as a unit. there so many intertwined organizations and clubs that really pulls together the different student bodies of each school and I love that because it makes everyone feel welcomed. I enjoy attending Steinert High School, the way I feel walking through those halls must be the same way Beyonce feels at the Grammys; there so much motivation. Though, I love my school, there are a few things that need to fixed. For example, my school has a little reputation of the students there being racist and I would be a clown if I said I didn't see it. It is not everyone but it still must be addressed. Senior: I have spent the last 3 years at Perth Amboy High School as I am now in my senior year, I can reflect on the school's district. Was our school perfect? No. No school is but did they teach and inspire me? Yes, they did. I had the opportunity to join the Communications Academy and we took courses that would guide and inform us about the careers in that field. My time in the Academy were some of my best memories and I even enjoyed the learning. It was exhilarating, educational, and informative without being boring. Our school won the National School of Character Award as well. My school has improved over these years and to see where they are now versus back then is a big difference. Alum: For a public school district, the Cherry Hill School District experience is better than one might expect. I stayed in the district from early childhood education all the way to high school, and now I attend a private four-year university. Better funding can improve the infrastructure of the schools, but the teachers are dedicated. My guidance counselor at Cherry Hill High School West stands out, as she was the sole person who helped me apply to colleges. I did feel on my own at time, but there are good people within the district who care about their students. Senior: FRHSD provides countless opportunities that had a lasting impact on me. Experimenting with various electives enabled me to shape my identity and path for the future. I created preschool lesson plans, played piano, etched a scratchboard, and even wrote a novel. Not only did I learn many diverse skills, I learned about myself. I am thankful for all of the experiences I took part in, including the ones I did not enjoy or shine in. None of it could have been possible without the friendly and helpful staff. Besides help with schoolwork, many helped with personal issues by giving advice and simply checking in. Knowing that the staff truly supports me and wants me to succeed in and outside the classroom made me feel valued. The only thing that should change is the rigor of the classes. Parent: My wife, kids, and I recently moved to Clifton from NY and enrolled our kids in the public schools. We were a little stressed with the move, but the registration process was pretty painless. Everybody was really helpful especially since my son's records weren't sent from his old school. They started elementary and middle school without a problem and really like it so far. The teachers and admin are helpful and professional in both of my kids' schools and helped them adjust to changing schools. We attended an open house at the high school for my middle school child and were very impressed with the clubs, activities, athletics, and courses offered at the high school. Senior: Overall New Brunswick High Schools, are the best but they aren't the worst in comparison to other high school near by, the academics are the worst, but there can still be improvement in certain areas. As for safety, I consider my school to be very safe, but in comparison to the public high school, which gotten broken into last week, resulting in several student injuries. Furthermore, something New Brunswick public high schools arent lacking is diversity, town has the most diversity I have ever seen, from a town. as for the athletics, New Brunswick is a major soccer town, I believe they even made it to finals this year, as for other sports, the Girls Varsity Tennis team made it to the top three, with the captain winning several awards.... Senior: The Culture at Plainfield Public Schools is Excellent and unlike any other you will ever be apart of. The people who work at these schools take efforts to make sure everyone feels included in the schools and has a good time. I transferred from a private school and I would make that same decision ten times again if I had to. The College Readiness needs a lot of work, the teachers are too nice and let students pass with too many assignments undone. I understand this us for their passion to see their students succeed and get into good schools, however, this does not help them. Senior: It's a very good high school and there are a lot of things to do. I didn't expect to like the school as much as I do now, but it's a very good school were kids can learn more than they need to if they are interested. The teachers are simply fantastic. Junior: I have been within the Brick Township public school district for many years now and I have had a wonderful experience. Of course there are times where things could have been done better, but that comes with every experience. Brick Township makes every student feel important and taken care of along their schooling journey! I have been so happy with all the teachers I’ve had as well. They have supported me along my journey and have made me who I am today! Specifically the S.T.E.M academy has opened me up to multiple opportunities, understanding teachers, and the best college readiness path I could ask for. Senior: Studying in Bridgewater Raritan high school is akin to studying at a local community college! It has a huge sprawling campus, with close to 3000 students and faculty strength of 280+. The school prepares students very well for college. It offers a wide selection of AP classes and extracurriculars which help students grow both academically and personally. The sky’s the limit for the student who is self initiated and inclined to make the most of it. The school also supports student led clubs and initiatives. I am grateful to have been provided the exposure to the plethora of AP classes, and opportunities to preside and run clubs to engage kids in STEM, charter national honor societies, as well as better communities through student involvement. On the downside, the facility needs a bit of a refresh. The labs and resources are outdated. Technology used in classrooms need to be revamped to provide students a better learning experience.
