Alum: I went to Lincoln before the remodel and it was an awful structure. I am happy they remodeled it. However, my learning got better each year. I am thrilled I got an education with Portland Public schools. With classes like Intro to Education, critical race theory, and psychology. Senior: Lewiston High School is a very diverse and community oriented school. There are 1400 students here, however most all of the students know each other. Here at LHS the students are able to show their creativity by displaying murals on the walls and also showcasing graphic designs. There are so many opportunities for students to shine and think about the future. My high school also provides so much help with the college process. Senior: The Bangor Public School System has been all I've known growing up. This system has continuously supported me and encouraged me to become the best student I can be. In my high school experience I've been challenged with rigorous classes and exam where I've reached close to my full potential. Overall, the Bangor school system is well rounded, supportive, flexible, and understanding. Some things that I would like to see change are the schoolwide opportunities to get involved and meet new people. Niche User: I was at a discreet disadvantage entering high school. For started my parents had just split up, and my sister was giving birth to what would be her second of three children. After the first year it is was apparent to some staff that I would not be graduating. Until I elected myself during my Junior year to take a 5th year to finish my schooling. Parent: Both of my children have gone to school in Auburn since Kindergarten. They started at Walton where they each got the individual attention they needed. (As a parent, you have to realize that half of their education happens in school and the other half they get from you at home.) Then they went to AMS where, depending on the team they were on, they either had good teachers or new teachers who needed a lot of practice. The food at AMS was good, and I would suggest getting your child involved in as many extra-curricular activities as you can, such as Odyssey of the Mind. That way if they aren't challenged in their academic classes, they are growing in other ways. Edward Little High School offers a lot of honors and AP classes, and the teachers at those levels are some of the finest ones in the building. The lunches there are sub par, but the school is being rebuilt (hooray!) so hopefully when that happens, other areas will improve as well.... Read 10 reviews

Parent: Best school system my kids attended. Teachers are always helping students to achieve their best interests. I was on the school board, co president of the Middle School PTSA. Parent teacher, student association. This was the first of its kind nationwide. This allows the board, teachers and students on the board to speak at their levels so everyone can understand clearly. Junior: Ive been going to South Portland schools all of my life and all i can say is that i really enjoyed all of the teachers. Yeah there was one or two that had no idea what they were doing, but overall the teachers are very supportive and understand the stress students are going through out of High school. If i could change on thing it would be the amount of issues that we have with vaping in the school. The administrators are trying their best to stop people but its everywhere. Junior: I’ve gone to Scarborough Public Schools since kindergarten and every year has been a little bit different. While overall I’ve enjoyed school, I’ve obviously had my ups and downs. Wentworth was awful for me, everything about those three years was awful. But, unlike most students, 7th and 8th grade at the middle school were great! K-2 at Eight Corners was also amazing, I had a lot of friends, an amazing teacher, and I felt so loved and supported by the people around me. High school has been pretty good! I’ve had my own personal ups and downs but Scarborough High School has been consistently there for me and I’ve always felt like I have a place, which I know is not true for a lot of students. Props to the theatre company, Oak Hill Players and One Acts. Niche User: Although it is my first year of college, I have been influenced by the new setting and community that it has to offer. As it is known that higher education can improve health and wealth, I strive for these accomplishments while also learning about things that are of great interest to med. To reference professor's Bishop and Verleger, college provides a “unique combination of learning theories” (Berger, 511). I make great use of massive open online courses (MOOC), which help me complete school work without having to be physically present for a class. The diversity in the University of Southern Maine has exposed me to various cultures that I otherwise would not have purposefully exposed myself to. Senior: I loved the high-level classes and the excellent teachers helping the students. As an incoming freshman, you have the opportunity to take honors classes, academic classes or preparatory classes. So no matter what level of student you are, Brunswick has a class that will fit your learning style. Furthermore, if you start highschool in lower-level classes, it is easy to move up to higher-level classes if desired. On the extracurricular side of things, as a student, you are able to get involved very easily, whether it be volunteer clubs, outing clubs or sports. Brunswick also has an excellent music program. Senior: My experience in the MSAD 54 school district have overall been really good. The teachers are always encouraging, helpful, and invested in the future of their students. Parent: I brought my children to this school system in grades 5th and 12th. My 5th grader is now a senior. I love the course offerings and ability to take a wide range of classes in both college prep and career related. The high school has Foster Tech built in and allows students to take classes in both the regular and tech categories. They also offer classes through the University of Maine system as well. My son will start his first year of college with already having 4 classes done. Diversity is great within the school and their International Program helps greatly with the school having many International Students each year. The high school building itself has amenities that most high schools would not have such as a bank and a little Cafe(sort of) in which the students all get home fries. Senior: Augusta Public Schools was very well for my education. I had a good friend group that kept me in track my whole school years. The only problems I had with the school was that it did not stay up to date with today's themes. With the internet changing items or changing criteria for classes. The teachers taught the same items every year and got very good at that, but when the tests needed changed then the teachers didn't know how to teach differently.
