Junior: Davis High School is such a wonderful school. The overall community of the school is amazing as we strive to make everyone feel included to optimize the learning experience. The teachers are amazing at their area of expertise and always help when you need it. Davis High School also offers programs to get a head on start on college like Dual enrollment (running start) and the International Baccalaureate (IB). If you are looking for somthing easier, you can always take part IB or honors classes! The counseling staff are also super nice and will help you look at your goals and advise you on what pathway you should take. Alum: Issaquah High School has a variety of classes available, a relaxed school culture, and a multitude of extracurriculars. Issaquah offers many AP, honors, and elective courses. While there are state course requirements, students are given a lot of freedom in choosing their courses. I really enjoyed the relaxed school culture in my time there. The school has a relaxed phone policy and dress code and the administration often involves teachers' feedback in their decision-making. The students themselves are very friendly and academically motivated. Most teachers are approachable and kind. Overall, I hope that the school takes back the strict bathroom policy it implemented this past year. The school itself is a little dirty and overcrowded. Junior: I love how Skyline is an inclusive and diverse environment. It encourages individuality and cooperation. We hold many unique events and celebrations, and I love seeing everyone show their school spirit. Senior: My experience at Henry M. Jackson High School has been filled with lots of fun, spirit, and opportunity! I've been able to get involved in all that I love to do. I'm captain of the varsity swim and dive team and have been with the team the last four years, competing at the district and state level. Everyone I've met on the team has been so incredible and supportive which has made my experience so welcoming and I definitely feel like I belong. I've been able to compete on the varsity golf team as well which has been equally as rewarding. Senior: The school has awesome resources and caring teachers and staff. I wish I had a more authentic high school experience, but that was cut because of Covid. I started college after things got back into place, but I noticed that I wasn’t as connected. Although, as I look back at the beginning of my freshman year and even some of my weird Covid sophomore year, I can really say that the school did it’s best to keep us involved and connected. The Moses Lake High School has always had the Gear-Up gruop that’s would send daily reminders and announcements about absolutely ANY opportunity that was available for any student. The teachers at this high school are all comfortable and very connected with the students. You can always see them associating and hanging out with students out in the hallways during passing period and staying connected, which is very important. Junior: I've enjoyed many parts of high school, like meeting new people and learning new material. Extracurricular opportunities have always been the largest contributing factor to my enjoyment and how I've met the most friends. Having involvement in a wide variety of clubs, sports, and activities has also been a big help. However, there are also many things to dislike. For example, the strict routine with minimal time to socialize and eat during lunch. Overall, many of the teachers are fantastic and make me want to participate and absorb new material. But teachers in the math department tend to be lacking. The student body is almost 2,500 students and tends to lack school spirit and unity, but there is lots of work being to done to try to remedy that. Sophomore: When my freshman year started, I was excited to be in this school because I made new friends and had new classes that taught me something I didn't know. And throughout the freshman year, I did of course struggle and had some challenges academically but still I didn't fail this beginning year of high school. Not only there were people from the same middle school I went to went to the same high school I eas going to but there were new people and I made new friends and high school was fun. And throughout the frreshman year I really improved myself and focused on my academics and not only that but also physically. Every letter grade mattered to me at that time and it was so significant to me because I thought if I can't keep my grades up, then I can't be in a career field I want to be in and I did improve my focus and got better grades at the end of the year. Senior: The sprawling campus is brand new and quite possibly the best in state. MSHS boasts state of the art fine arts and technical education facilities and is visually appealing, not to mention the gorgous eponymous Mount Si overlooking campus. Football games are amazing, and the wild student section is a school tradition. Leadership oppurtunities are very accessible. You can find your "niche" in athletics, clubs or the arts. But, as far as the education you get, Si is average. Most teachers don't utilize facilities and the resources avaible to them. AP/Honors teachers are competent, but unfortunately, there isn't a culture of academic curiosity at Mount Si. Still, the school is intentional about celebrating student success. The administration lack in communication skills and their oversight is restrictive. Still, the school has a ton of potential. Student organized traditions make the Senior experience a blast! Alum: The teachers, staff and students were all extremely welcoming. With high diversity, comes a great environment where empathy is something that can be found wherever you look. I'm glad I attended this school, rather than any other school. The funding for this school was quite low when I went there, but there was many fundraising and community efforts that I can't fault it for what the district decided it's budget is. Everyone who works/worked there deserved a pay raise. Though many of the programs such as sports, music and arts may be lacking due to the aforementioned lack of funds, the experiences made there were priceless to me. Working hard can get you anywhere, such as myself going to UW Seattle, no matter what the reputation of this school is. I recommend the KMTA (if it's still around), and IB; the teachers who teach those programs create one of the best communities in the school, especially the KMTA. Senior: I love Richland High school. The community we have there is amazing. Most of the teachers care about the students a lot and the students take care of each other. Our school spirit is like none other in the area. One of the biggest issues with the school is our current parking situation. With incoming Sophomores getting their drivers licenses there are less and less places to park which was a huge problem last year. Senior: Wenatchee High School is great with getting their students involved. I participated in quite a few things such as, AVID, Mariachi, Random Acts of Kindness and MECHA club. They're school spirit is very enthusiastic and the pep rallies are always a blast. Everyone is inclusive and friendly. It has always been easy to make connections with my teachers because they are all so welcoming and comprehensive. All of these points made my time at Wenatchee High School memorable, and easygoing. Junior: Overall, being a student at UHS has been amazing and I really love it here. All of my teachers and classmates are very supportive and warm, and I have found a strong community within Union. I constantly struggle with ADHD and overstimulation, and all of my teachers have been incredibly patient and accommodating. I have the privilege of being a part of a variety of programs like band, AP classes, and theatre. Personally, the biggest negative at UHS is the amount of vaping in the bathroom. Some buildings are better than others, but getting hit with a cloud of vape every few hours is not pleasant. Other: I went through and graduated from Camas High School earlier this year. There are plenty of classes to take, with very friendly teachers (and few teacher-related complaints from the students). There are also plenty of sports, so if one doesn't suit your needs, there's always more. The school always encourages its students to join or create clubs, which usually have meetings twice a month on a scheduled date and time. Some clubs can offer activities outside of school time like group hikes or volunteering. The school has the American Red Cross come in about twice a year to gather blood donations from students who apply (and get the rewards of about 10-15 dollar gift cards). The school year went relatively quickly for me, but I had a great time there! The only stressful part about the school was the senior project (graduation requirement), and you must pass to graduate!
