Kamehameha Schools Hawai'i Campus
Senior: It's a private school for Hawaiian children, and they instill and prioritize not only traditional Hawaiian values, but Christian values, and college readiness. I was accepted in my 6th-grade year, and coming from a public elementary school I always thought that private schools were scary and snooty or stuck up, but this is absolutely not true. The teachers and faculty really care about the students' education, in high school and beyond. They're committed to helping us to get ready for college in high school, so there's an easy transition and we feel ready to conquer college and the world once we leave high school. They have security at the front gates, as well as around campus, making sure the students and faculty are safe at all times. Although this is a school for Hawaiians there are so many different races and ethnicities that are represented. They teach us about our culture and history to help us perpetuate it and to become closer to our ancestors.
