Junior: At Carterville High School there are many wonderful pieces. The school is only a few years old and taken very good care of. The teachers are amazing and will do anything for you. It consistently ranks high in the state for best academics. A high focus is put on learning and understanding as well as preparation for college and the SAT/ACT. The town is small and quiet and it gives an overall great feel!

Herrin High School

Senior: Liked the teachers very much. They promote good education and support the students. The are a great resource for college and to point you in the right direction to help you exceed. The school has lots of resources but they tend to be a little hidden, you have to ask abou them. The facilities are great, clean and well maintained. Upgrades are made regularily in order to keep technology and services in line with what students need. While covid has put a damper on what they can do teachers work hard one on one with students to try to help them achieve. I feel that if a student is failing it is not from a lack of what the teacher is providing, but that the student is not applying themselves. Also like that the teachers will not just hand you things, they want to empower students to make their own decisions and to draw their own conclusions. Overall other than covid I am happy with the school. Covid has really lessened my senior experience.

Marion High School

- Rating 3.67 out of 5 95 reviews
Senior: Marion High School faculty members are dedicated to their roles as influencers for the students. I was recently involved in a traumatic event that led to me being airlifted and hospitalized. Whenever I came back to school, the teachers were all welcoming, kind, understanding, and willing to individually help me catch up on the work I had missed. However, one thing that I would like to see changed among the school is the slight racial stigma that still exists. Oftentimes, I hear students and even teachers making slightly racist comments that they don't even realize are harmful to specific people.

High School Senior: I would probably chose this school again if I had the chance. I would choose it because it has an amazing foundation of community support. Also, everyone makes you feel welcome. Another reason I would choose this school again is because you get to know almost every student/teacher personally. Since this school is so small and close knit, you are basically family. It has a great atmosphere and I absolutely love it.

Johnston City High School

Senior: Johnston City High School is a very good community high school. There are many pros overall. The staff treat students very well and are very caring towards students. There are many opportunities given to students to take dual credit classes, to prepare them for the future. These dual credit classes are associated with John A Logan College. Johnston High School also provides many advanced math classes along with nursing classes as well. Overall, this high school prepares students for the future unlike many high schools in Illinois. My experience at Johnston City have led me to believe I am very well prepared for the future.
