Junior: International Academy is an overall great school in regard to its academic rigor and its balanced learning environment. Each course follows the International Baccalaureate, with the Middle Years Program from grades 9-10 and the Diploma Programme from grades 11-12. It has a variety of enjoyable and skill-building clubs and activities in addition to a welcoming and nurturing environment. All of the teachers are focused on bettering education for their students and building future leaders One thing I would change about this school is the physical building. Currently, the building is relatively small in comparison to other high schools and the facilities (such as bathrooms and the gymnasium/cafeteria/auditorium) are underdeveloped. Despite these physical drawbacks, holistically, the school is a great opportunity for students to excel and gain essential knowledge beyond simple education that they can apply in the future to strive for success.

Junior: Troy High is a great school in material and academics. The overall quality of student life is only about half as it is hard to find a student that is not partaking in several advanced classes, and sports/clubs. Troy High is a school for overachievers that are ready for a challenge. The material is good, but the teachers don't have a high level of good response from students. It's about 50/50 whether you may receive a decent teacher. I was once given a teacher who struggled with a head injury and could not remember the class she was teaching. The class had to protest as she was failing us as she did not understand how to use the online grade book and sources. However, one bad teacher does not diminish the group of amazing teachers I have received. Some I've even kept in contact with after. I believe if you are ready to be challenged and show the world that you are capable of high education, Troy High is the right place for you.

Junior: Overall, I think Pioneer is a very high quality high school. Every aspect of the school, from the sports to the music programs, set to achieve high standards of excellence, and more often than not actually do so. Many of the teachers are very dedicated to their job and excel in preparing students with the knowledge and skills they’ll need for college, while also not being uber traditional. The facilities are the biggest issue for me, as the bathrooms have been pretty disgusting oftentimes and some closed for maintenance for months on end. Safety is also a slight problem, as there have been several incidents in my time there of people taking things way too far. However, I would say overall the school is excellent in most academic and extracurricular areas, so my rating is “very good.”

Junior: I enjoy attending Novi High School. The exhibits a lot of diversity and has a bunch of clubs and activities for student to take part in. They do a good job of giving everyone a chance to express themselves, their culture, religion, etc.
The teachers at Novi are excellent and very supportive and kind. Novi gives students everything that they could need when talking about facilities. It is over all an amazing school that really helps it’s students reach success!

Junior: I have been a student at Huron High School for 3 years now and I enjoy it a lot. The teachers really support you, and take an interest in your learning. There are multiple programs you can do, from IB to CP to DP, the school offers a variety of classes, as well as clubs, sports, etc.
But Huron doesn't just have outstanding academics, the school also has a great sense of community. Events like homecoming and pep rallies at football games really show how much school spirit there is at Huron.
There is nothing that I would want to change about my 3 years at this school

Senior: I had a good overall experience at this school from sports to teachers and the people I met there. The faculty was easy to work with throughout my time there. There are many opportunities for students to get involved which include clubs, volunteering, sports, magnet programs, etc. The magnet programs are a three year program in a specialized area that allow you to have more experience in that area of study as well as hands-on learning. I was a part of Communications, Media, & Public Policy. I had a really good experience within this magnet as we covered aspects of government, public policy, and various social issues. Last year we got the chance to form groups and interview an elder in our community that shared stories with us about their own life. We then were to create a digital media product that highlighted the stories they told. We were to show this film at the Cinetopia Film Festival at the Michigan Theater in the spring; however, this was postponed due to coronavirus..

Senior: What I loved about Rochester Adams was how inclusive and welcoming everybody is. No one ever has to be worried about now finding some place they belong, and if there is nothing that seems like the right fit everyone is able to start any club they would like. The diversity in the schools atmosphere is so unbelievably welcoming with the students and teachers and I hope that never changes. Attending this school has been a great experience personally and academically, it pushes you to do well but everyone is always so understanding if you don’t which I believe is so important in schools.

Junior: The teachers are either amazing or pretty good, with very few exceptions! The size of the school allows for students to develop meaningful relationships with teachers, and they're always really supportive. Speaking of support, the student environment is unparalleled. Students learn to work together and underclassmen are usually heavily supported and guided by the upperclassmen. The clubs are easy to set up and vary widely in options, so there's something for everyone (and if there's not, you can just make a club)! I will say that the environment is extremely stressful for freshmen and juniors, but not impossible to accomplish. It's a challenge! The biggest thing I could hope for is a wider range of available subjects, or more freedom to pick our IB courses, because the school, despite being a liberal arts high school, leans heavily into History and Literature as mandatory courses and leaves STEM students with limited options to explore. Otherwise, it's a really good school!

Alum: I believe this school is great in terms of academics and extracurriculars. The teachers and classrooms are great for learning. However, diversity was poor. Only until I reached university did I realize how poorly it lacked diversity. The students there also tended to stay together by race. More diversity and inclusion would also encourage students to explore new cultures, as well. I'd like for students of all backgrounds to feel accommodated and motivated to learn.

Senior: Groves is an amazing school. They have so many opportunities for students in so many different ways. Sports, clubs, theatre, band/orchestra/choir, GSC, BBBS, community service, and many more. Some of my favorite memories are from spirit week and the homecoming football game each year. Spirit week and charity week always made me feel involved and important. It was so much fun dressing up all week and participating in field day. Going to football games and sitting in the student section made everyone feel like a community cheering for our boys. I will miss Groves greatly, but I am also happy. This school has pushed me to always do my best academically. It has prepared me and helped me get admitted to my dream college. Alum: Love it! The teachers are absolutely amazing. They are 100% invested in the success of their students. The open campus allows students to assume responsibilty over their actions. Plus, being able to enjoy lunch in downtown Ann Arbor is amazing. I loved being able to leave the stress of school behind for an hour while enjoying a nice, peaceful lunch at my all time favorite, The Slurping Turtle. And with so many amazing places to explore, the hands on learning opportunities never stop. Being able to collect data and specimen directly from the river truly allows students to connect with the material they're learning.

Parent: Grosse Pointe South is an excellent high school! My son started at South in 9th grade. He is currently a senior. The school offers challenging academics, and prepares all students for college. Moving from another state was challenging for my son, but the environment at South is welcoming. It was easy for him to make friends. All his teachers are responsive. The students at South are friendly and the environment is safe. My son wasn't into sports, but there are so many clubs and activities for him to participate in. Parents are encouraged to get involved, if their schedules permit. The administration has always been welcoming and communication is great! Students are encouraged to do their best, but my son isn't overwhelmed. I feel the teachers and staff at South provide a challenging, and rewarding environment, where all students feel safe.

Alum: The teachers there were top notch! They care so much about the well being of the students. I became friends with a lot of my teachers and some let me eat lunch with them in their classrooms. A great environment and energy from the school overall. I always felt safe there and there's a lot of school spirit. The students there, however, do have a lot of cliches. Class mates that I've talked to agree that we felt like we had to fit into this mold to be 'cool.' I never really got to grow or find myself in high school. So basically a classic high school experience, with great teachers and staff.

Our school provides numerous extra-curricular activities for our students after school. These activities allow our students to participate in competitions and win prizes.
Along with this, my school arranges Charity Week every year. It is a time of year where our students come together for one common shared destiny. A destiny to help our community in ways we cannot imagine.
My school provides a friendly atmosphere for our students. But never does our school compromise discipline. When a student violates our code of conduct, they face consequences. I love my school.

Senior: I enjoyed going to RHS! The facilities and building were fantastic, especially after the bond. Academics were about as good as the teacher you had, and I loved most of my teachers. They really went beyond what was expected of them and connected with students on a personal level too. Clubs and sports were a fun way to explore your interests as well. I also really liked the collaborative community of RHS; school spirit was decent and the student body was fairly diverse so there were always opportunities to meet people like you. If I could change something, it would be that the administration often makes questionable decisions and there is a little bit of a drug culture, but it's not something that compromises your safety if you avoid it.

Senior: West Bloomfield High School has been an awesome four years. I went from dreading school in my previous district to actually looking forward to attending my classes. The teachers strive to make their students the best they can be. The staff really wants everyone to succeed and will stop at nothing to provide a way for them to do so. Being able to have a relationship with my teachers has really been a blessing, when I turn to my teacher to share good news before my friends that's when you know it's real. In addition to academics, our athletic teams are also on top. Within my four years, our varsity basketball teams have been district champs and a member of the Final Four, our varsity football team was state finalist and played at Ford Field, and finally our varsity volleyball team was district champ this past season. There's a club for literally everything, which makes inclusion easy!

Senior: I went to North for all four years of high school. My favorite things about it were probably the great relationships I made with friends, coaches, and teachers. So many of the teachers want to see the kids succeed and spend a lot of their personal time still doing work related to ensuring kids have every opportunity to succeed. The counseling department has done a great job of making sure juniors and seniors have access to scholarships and practice tests for SAT. Also, the counselors make sure seniors are extremely informed about college applications. I have noticed that especially in AP classes, teachers are willing to do so much to help kids out, like offering help after school multiple days of the week. I think the bathrooms could be kept up much better and stocked more often, but they sufficed. For school culture, I feel like some kids think having school spirit is "dumb" or "a waste of time", but I thought it was actually nice to dress up on spirit days. I feel prepared.

Sophomore: Plymouth is a very diverse school with many kind, friendly students that are sure to help you feel welcome and teachers that are very patient and helpful. Plymouth High School has a very competitive academic program. There are many Honors classes and AP classes offered. In addition, you can also choose to be a part of the STEM program or the IB program. If you we're looking to be a part of a club or student organization, Plymouth offers many opportunities for you. Some student organizations include Plymouth Student Congress and Plymouth Student Council. Although Plymouth Athletics can be improved, I would say that most of ours sports teams are very competitive with the other teams in their leagues. As for the teachers, they are, for the most part, patient and helpful. They provide help to students who ask for it. Some of them also have very fun, interactive ways of learning. As a matter of fact, my math teacher last year had us juggle every Wednesday to enhance our brains' pathways!

Junior: I really like Salem High School in Canton Michigan! I enjoyed the large campus atmosphere and the diversity of all of its students. There were so many new people, interesting classes, and fun clubs. Although the walks on the path between classes is something we all love to complain about, I can attest that we all are secretly glad to have them, because they provide us with exercise, scenery, and socialization that reduce the monotony of the school day. I really appreciate Salem High School and everything it’s taught me.

As a student I felt very welcomed in this school. I would recomend anyone to come to Canton High School.We have over 200 clubs and a very diverse group of students. We even have CTE course which is amazing because as a student who wants to go the medial feild, these course really helped me prepare for my future. Our school is LGBTQ+ friendly, all doors are open! I really loved this school! Go Chiefs!

Parent: Veritas has been such a good fit for our family. Coming from a homeschooled background, we were concerned how our child would do there all day.

My child looks forward to being at school everyday and especially in his classroom with his teacher. Our son feels totally safe there and had no separation anxiety.

Every morning my child excitedly ran to greet the administrators at the door. He loved that he could start his day by racing them to be the first to say hello. He also loves going to memory period.

He has grown so much this year. His teacher is bright, loving, fun and very patient. She takes them outside several times a day, gives them snack time and miraculously gets them to nap. It is amazing how much better his reading and social grace has gotten too.

They have an excellent classical curriculum delivered in love. The teachers are very invested and the small class sizes guarantee personal attention. We also love the other parents. This family community is priceless!

Senior: This school absolutely changed my life! I entered as a new sophomore, yet I was immediately welcomed into the community. All the girls are truly nice, and there's always something to do on the weekends. The adults are always doing their best to improve the school culture.
