Senior: It was overall a good school, I made many great friends and the teachers were amazing as well. Of course there were some teachers that could definitely improve their attitude towards students as it is their job, but there were several great ones as well. There isn’t much diversity in a school like St. Joseph’s, as that is less common in private schools, but even when there is diversity, it’s brought out too much that it makes the gap bigger. Junior: There is a genuine care for the wellbeing of students at our school, and it contributes to a great environment in which student-faculty relations are extremely positive. The beautiful campus creates a great vibe for students and when the weather is kind, the general mood of the campus feels enlightened. Sophomore: Love it here at Wilson Hall! As a military kid, I’ve been to a number of different schools and this one is by far my favorite. The school maintains a family-like relationship between students, teachers, and administrators while also giving students independence and responsibility when it comes to participation in sports and clubs. Parent: Faculty is deadicated to making sure students learn. The carline is ridiculous. The basketball coach is a great mentor. The Football coach sort of shows favoritism to certain parents and does not give some players a fair opportunity to play. Track coach does a good job. The girls coaching has gone through some rough times and still improving. Softball coach leans toward playing girls that are not really wothy of the position while not playing better players. Academically, the place is great. Staff genuinely cares for the students. The facility is decent but security can be improved upon. The front door is locked but the side doors to most of the buildings are not. I would like to see them get rid of the final day student prank. Senior: I love Ben Lippen! I've attended the school for the last 13 years. To be honest, my favorite parts are the science department and the international program. The science teachers are fantastic at their jobs, and genuinely care about their students. The international program has exposed me to so many cultures that I would never get the chance to experience otherwise! The international students ask questions that I would never think of, and I learn so much from them about their countries and about my own in the contrast. However, the international program is also my least favorite part of the school. The domestic students find it difficult to convince the international students to participate in many domestic student events, so at the school, there ends up being two groups: the Americans and the boarding students. Junior: If there is any way for me to simply describe Bishop England it would be rigorous academics, unethical disciplinary policies, and wrongful spending on areas in the school. I have attended Bishop England since 2020, throughout my school years especially my junior year (2022-2023). I have been overloaded multiple times with schoolwork, especially close to midterms and finals. Most teachers here do not communicate with each other when assigning tests and homework assignments close to each other. Some teachers are more lenient than others but the overall aspect of academics is very much rigorous and they would like you to only focus on academics. Their disciplinary actions are very much unethical and seem only one-sided for the school and not our students. For example, seniors this year have always done the tradition of switching our "gendered" uniforms, however this year they denied any student in to school for participating resulting in about 10 seniors for the school day.... My former school and Beaufort Academy are rivals; academically and in the sports world. Alum: I attended Southside Christian School, in Simpsonville, SC, from 6th grade all the way through high school graduation. I had a very good and close understanding and relationship with SCS to say the least. One of the first benefits of attending SCS was the academics. Academics at SCS are nearly unrivaled by any other school in the upstate. The teachers are outstanding and make for certain that every single student takes away the right information and understanding after each class. Speaking of teachers, the faculty and staff at SCS are amazing. They truly care for each and every student and do their best to make an enjoyable and memorable school experience. Extra-curricular activities are also a talking point of SCS. I was on the football team my entire time attending this school, and I cannot explain the vastness of benefits I received from applying myself to football while at SCS. Parent: My daughter went to school here and was an awesome experience. The faculty and staff care about each student. It is like family. The teachers are very qualified and make sure you know what is going on with your student either through their online grading/homework site or emails. They prepared the student for college and even offered college classes. Scholarship information was readily available and they were very competitive with the other schools in the amount of scholarship monies recieved. When she went on to furhter her learning she was ahead. Communication is awesome with parents and you always know what is going on, if you read your emails weekly. Senior: I switched from public middle school to private school for the 8th grade. I was only planning on staying at Mead Hall to finish out middle school but I loved it so much that I wanted to stay for high school. The small classroom size has allowed me to become really close with some of my teachers. The small grade size allows for closer friendships. Our college counselor has been amazing in preparing me for college next year. Over my four years in high school, she had come to me about better preparing me for college. The food is amazing. Our lunch ladies are the sweetest people and they know you by name. The food is homecooked meals that are absolutely delicious.
