Parent: A community comes together to help our children learn. What I love most about the Open Classroom is how many adults per kid there are for every activity. Parent participation is encouraged for 3 hours a week per student up to 6 hours total. Everyone at the school (teachers, admin staff and fellow parents) is flexible with the co-oping shifts and can accommodate or cover depending on your schedule.
As a parent it’s nice to see my kids in the classroom setting and be able to make acquaintance with other kids and parents as well (and their teachers too!)
Beyond that parents and grandparents are invited to special events within the school such as the Halloween parade, Winter solstice sing along and many more fun activities. Even field trips!
Number one downfall is the communication within the school. The school has so many parent-run Committees it can feel like you are drowning in emails and to-do’s!
