Senior: My experience with Portage Public School is one of divide. Although Portage Northern and Portage Central are part of the same district, the unfortunate divide between the two schools makes it hard to believe. The two schools have a vastly different atmosphere and community. They are also made up of very different groups of people. Portage Northern is a much more diverse school and often considered as the "have nots" by the other side of the town. But as a Northern student I can tell you this is the exact opposite of the truth. Although the administration building for PPS sits right outside of Portage Central the heart of the community is driven by Northern. At Northern it is the best example of community and home. Student and teacher interactions flood the halls and students fell a special place at school. I never really liked school until I experienced Northern. Senior: I have been involved in many of Caledonia's various extracurricular offerings. I have spent four years part of L.E.G.I.O.N as a middle school mentor. I have enjoyed giving back as I benefitted from this program when I was in middle school. I am currently taking TV production and Mr. Crawley respects our ideas. It is fun to be able to produce segments that students and staff watch daily. I have played for the Caledonia Soccer program for 4 years. Senior: Novi provides diversity, culture, academics and music and sports experiences unmatched to most schools. Novi continues to push the students to be the best they can be, both in and out of the classroom. Novi also provides opportunities outside of the "norm" and allow all students to find a perfect fit for them, whether it's gardening club, gaming club, French club, SADD and many more. There is something for everyone at Novi. Our diverse culture allows for friendships to be made across cultures you can't find at neighboring schools. This diverse culture also pushes our schools to teach for a global view and to think beyond ourselves. Novi has continued to push me to do my best with all the AP & IB classes, along with health classes such as Yoga. Senior: Rockford Public Schools have presented me with many opportunities to be involved in a variety of programs. The clubs and sports I was able to be a part of were only made possible by RHS, as our large student body has created oultets for all interests. What I also appreciate is that if you want to start something at Rockford, there is a plethora of faculty and administrators who are willing to support you. Senior: My experience within the Chelsea School District has made me quite appreciative of my hometown. Living and growing up in Chelsea and going to school within the district has made me realize the preeminent connections that Chelsea shares. Chelsea School District prides itself on community, excellence, and pride. My favorite part of the district is how close-knit the community is. For instance, the abundance of community participation in sports, local events, etc. Although, one thing that isn’t particularly favorable is how political our education has become. Our school board in particular has been experiencing a heightened period of political tension that is reflecting poorly on the school, putting politics ahead of what’s best for our community and education. Senior: My experience at West Ottawa has been great! My teachers have taught me well and have guided me to be the student I am. They are understanding and know how badly I like to succeed in school. Most of the time they are willing to help outside of school if I need it. The best part of West Ottawa is probably the involvement. I feel like there are so many ways I can be involved at my school. There are 29 different sports teams, over 50 different clubs, and so many volunteer opportunities outside of school. I’ve taken part and joined two teams, volleyball and basketball, and two clubs, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Students of Environmental Action. The worst part of West Ottawa is the security. We have safety officers but they don’t really do anything. Mostly they are there to take phones and yell at you for leaving at lunch. I feel like if there was a real emergency they would run from it and not protect us. Maybe that’s just me, but there are times where I don’t always feel safe.... Read 70 reviews

Senior: Frankenmuth School district is a very tightly knit community, that has a lot to offer. German is engraved in the community and especially the schools as both the private and public schools are taught German and Spanish from a very young age. The culture in the town brings people from all over the US and even the world on the weekends. But, during the week it is a small town with a very friendly neighborhood. Football is something that drives this town with thier top of the line football field and competitive spirit its always an interesting place. Of course with football being the number one sport, all other sports take a back seat in importance. Though the golf team is one of the top in Michigan, despite this. The schools are very safe and takes safety very serious. These schools also offer lots of opportunities from there trips abroad to better learn Spanish or German, to there college courses that are offered before graduation, to the numerous co-op oppression.... Parent: Breitung Township Schools have amazing teachers and Staff. They truly care about the students and want them to excel in academics as well as sports. It's a very safe environment. The community, kids and staff take pride in their school. They offer AP courses for students to get college credits while attending High School. They also have college courses and are affiliated with the local community college. The teachers and counselors are there to help the students when they need help with school work. Senior: Vicksburg Community Schools has influenced me in many ways. I am a three sport athlete and have been my entire high school career. Being on the sporting teams has influenced me to become a prepared and responsible woman. The community between the students and faculty is better than I've ever seen in any other school. I love being in sports, it is like being in another family, I would do anything for the people I play with. One thing I would like to see change is the negativity throughout the middle of the school year. Senior: I have absolutely loved my experience at Mona Shores. I feel as though I can learn in a safe and reliable environment and I know there is always someone around to help if I need it. I am involved in many different sports at Mona Shores and they have allowed me to explore the things I like and meet new people. I also take multiple AP classes here at Shores and I have found the teachers are amazing at motivating kids to do their very best. Alum: Overall, Hudsonville High School prepared me for my academic future. The staff is knowledgeable, the curriculum is intensive, and the educational culture pushed me to achieve great things. On the social side, however, Hudsonville is lacking. While many of the staff are kind and easy to connect with, the students tend to be the opposite. As long as you are white, attractive, sporty, and straight, you will be just fine in our self-named 'Hudsonville bubble,' but, as the name implies, many of these students are sheltered, closed-minded, and rude to those different from them. While I did eventually find people I connected with, I admit that my experience as a white girl differs greatly from the challenges faced by the students of color attending Hudsonville. Senior: I have had a great experience with the Yale Public School District. I have attended since third grade, I have always had a good time with teachers and always having help when needed. Yale Public Schools always make it fun with all the concerts for the younger kids in elementary or the homecoming and prom for the high schoolers. its always such a fun time hanging out with friends at the football game and after school events. Learning at Yale Public School District has been so good and easy with the good teachers that are always willing to help whenever needed they're always up for a good time. and with the small population of school they all are familiar with all their students and know all their names like friends. school is something many people that attend Yale Public School District look forward to, having a safe place to go to every day. Other: Hamilton Community Schools is a great place to raise your kids! From my vantage point as a community member, the district administration and staff care about each and every student, making sure they're setup for success academically, socially, mentally, and in extra curriculars as well. There are a lot of different opportunities for students to get emerged into different careers including their Work Based Learning programs getting kids out into area businesses to find out what they like and don't like in case college isn't for them. Senior: Overall, I'd say i've had a great experience at Dexter, I've found a love for music in band and have stuck with that program for eight years, i've made made lifelong friends, and academically have been challenged but also got through many tasks with hard work.
