Parent: With 4 children at the high school, middle school and elementary levels and 2 more to go through, we couldn’t be happier. They have programs to help our child who struggles with reading as well as a gifted/talented program for those who excel. The new administration (2 years young) value parent input more than previous years and are quick to respond to parent communication. The faculty from elementary to high school, nurture the entire child creating well rounded individuals equipped with the tools to tackle the real world. The district is adding more classes/clubs geared toward the trades industry which is absolutely AMAZING. The community rallies around the schools with the Fort Thomas Education Foundation distributing thousands upon thousands of donated dollars to enhance and enrich the education and availability of the arts for all the students.

Junior: The environment of the entire school is amazing. It is a super unique group of people. Everyone is friendly but everyone also wants to push each other to get better. The school itself is very new and extremely nice on the inside. We all have our own computers and access to super cool technology, like in our stem lab. The teachers are all for the most part really great and super helpful. They are always willing to do whatever it takes to help you succeed.

Parent: Glasgow Independent Schools provided an excellent educational experience for all three of my children. They were all very prepared to move into post secondary education. Glasgow prepared each child for the next level. Senior: Teachers and staff are great. Really is a sense of family! The love to help in any situation. They are very upbeat and positive about learning. The take time to make sure that students are college and career ready. They have huge Wildcat Pride and love to support all athletes. I know that I can go to all teachers at anytime and ask for help as they are always available to me. I really have enjoyed my school time in Franklin Simpson Public Schools. I have a sister that will be graduating from here also and she loves it just the same.

Senior: Very good experience. The teacehrs and staff were great. The food was terrible tho.. one time freshman year i found a bone in my chicken tacos. Coming from a different school into this one the kids werent very welcoming and letting you into there “groups”. The school only focuses on football and basketball for there sports, they could care less about any other sport. All they care about is weather or not you get good grades so they can get money from the state. Over all a great environment to learn once u get into your “group”.

I have been on the honor roll for all of my time through the Corbin Independent Schools and have been pushed by teachers to do my best. I am an athlete, so sports is an important part of school and at Corbin I have had the opportunity to have fun and excel both academically and athletically.

Senior: The Hazard school system is supportive, commpetive, and overall amazing. The teachers are always doing their best to prepare students for the future, always encouraging students to make the best of their years by participating in sports, clubs, etc. Hazard students do academically well and the schools have been 8th in the state of kentucky for test scores. I am a high school senior at Hazard High School and the only thing i would love to see change is the cafeteria food. Hazard is one of threee school systems i’ve attended in the past 12 years, and i have been at Hazard 10 and half of those years for a reason!!

Alum: Oldham County Schools have high quality teachers who care about the students. They have high academic expectations. Children attend schools close to their homes. Security in the schools is good and the high schools have safety officers. Does not have a lot of diversity, but that seems to be improving. Overall the schools do a good job educating all children including those with disabilities. They have services for gifted students too.

Senior: My favorite characteristic of Metcalfe County Schools is that everyone is a family. We all depend on one another, and help each other when needed. The school systems are great, and the teachers are the best(even the new ones). However, conflicts do occur, but we also figure out ways to solve the problems and move on.

Freshman: Fulton County is a small school, however you get to know your teachers on a personal level. The teachers truly care about their students, and act as a shoulder to cry on if needed. I have always felt safe, loved, and appreciated at Fulton County High School. Though there could be improvements, the class flexibility could be better. The lunch menu isn't really something that could change, being that we are on a government plan so we eat free. Which eating for free is an amazing opportunity in its self.

Senior: When I started high school I really loved it. The freedom we were given made me feel like I was being treated more like an adult than a child. I have loved the comrodery between my classmates and parents. Somerset teachers and their sports programs are excellent. The school is small enough that the teachers get to know you on a personal level. I have connected beyond that teacher/student relationship with several of my teachers. I would like to see more rules put in place concerning discipline. In public schools there are students that are undisciplined. This can cause those of us that are serious about getting a good education to be unfocused. It isn't fair to the teachers either. Having to stop teaching to handle a discipline problem takes away from those students that want to learn!

Alum: For the most part I really enjoyed the school, but their are several things I would change. For one, some of the teacher's I have had in the past would give us packets of papers and then go back to there desks and sit on there phone. Another thing I would change, would be the bullying. The bullying has proceeded to get worse as time passes. The curriculum I learned has been very knowledgeable, but the way they teach it has become more difficult.

Senior: Being such a small school, everyone knows each other. You really get the one on one time you need as a student here. The majority of the teachers and counselors really care about you academics and your path after graduation. Of course, things could be better. But that is the same for every school. We have amazing academics and test scores. At Jackson Independent, we have much better academics than sports. I must say our food is pretty gross though, other than pizza day.

Senior: What I like best about Rowan County Public Schools has been my friend group. Some of the teachers are excellent, others not so much. I have to say the work hard to prepare you for college if you want to go and will participate in the process. If you don’t put forth the effort then neither do they. Which is how it should be. No one should do the work for you. There should be more course offerings. There is only one foreign language offered.

Alum: McCracken County High School was one of the best experiences I have ever had. I came from the smallest of the three schools that consolidated to form McCracken a school of over 2,000 kids. McCracken was the place where I made my best friends, got to experience an amazing athletic environment, and got an amazing education. Throughout high school, I was involved in many programs that prepared me for my future such as the Biomedical sciences program, Coed Cheerleading, and National Honors Society, which gave me a perfect excuse to do community service such as volunteering at a therapeutic horse riding for kids with disabilities. The opportunities at McCracken are endless and the staff never fails to put a smile on my face. Overall, my experience at McCracken was the best high school experience I could have asked for.
