Senior: The schools certainly care about student success and well-being. My largest concern with my high school experience here are the focus on "traditional" measures of student success, like standardized test scores, as opposed to mental health. My second largest concern is that funding often seems misappropriated; the district spends millions on new facilities and unnecessary sports equipment (like two massive banners for the football team at my school) while arts programs have to fight for basic needs like scripts for the play. However, I would say that this is a very good district academically and in sports and certainly prepares its students overall.

Senior: I love Sterling High School. Everyone is friendly, the teachers are super helpful and I feel very prepared for college. We get taught a lot of life skills that will be helpful when I go to college next year. We have a nice building and nice facilities and our sports are wonderful. The coaches that I have had are great people that teach me about the game and about life. Overall, the teachers, students, and staff want to see you succeed. They will do anything and everything to help you with anything. If you need some advise, or just someone to talk to, they are there for you every step of your career. Sterling High School just feels like home.

Alum: De Soto High School was a great place filled with great teachers. They always tried to get students involved in all of the activities and the teachers always went the extra mile! However. I’d like to see that students are more informed on the available activities each year instead of the same students being repetitively casted/put on the team. Everyone should have a fair chance and be aware of the events going on in the school. Overall, De Soto High School was a great experience for me and everyone I’ve talked to, but there are still things that could make the atmosphere more inclusive!

Alum: Chapman School District is an amazing place to expand your education. The staffing of teachers are helpful and bridge daily learning with technology and fun! Being a Military child transferring into new schools is typically difficult, however USD 473 was welcoming and all inclusive.

Parent: If you want a top quality education for your kids, this is the place to go. Very high number of students who went on to further their education. The staff not only has a very large knowledge base and are highly qualified, but they truly care about their students. My kids have loved every teacher they've had and can't pick a favorite! My family is proud to call themselves West Elk Patriots!

Senior: Beloit Junior-Senior High School is an amazing school and has won many awards, such as the national school of character award. Although BHS has amazing academics and outstanding teachers, the social setting isn't the best. There are many cliques and a lot of loners, including myself, which isn't the most welcoming thing. The most important part of school is not the social scene, but the academics. I can tell that the teachers here actually care about their students and that their goal is to prepare their students for college, and they do it very well.

Senior: Silver Lake is a small school; therefore, there is a lot of one-on-one time between teachers and students. I think that this factor alone is a major reason that students at Silver Lake are so successful. There are not a lot of cliques because of the size, everyone is friends with everyone. Teachers push students to achieve their greatest potential and students strive to succeed.

Junior: The Seaman Unified School District is one of the hardest working districts as a whole. Mr. Noble, our superintendent, does his best to get students involved in sports and schooling events for every grade/level of schooling. With this, some of the most amazing, hardworking, and understanding teachers have been chosen to teach the students here to prepare us for our futures as best we can be. The overwhelming feeling of family that follows you here is something that will last a lifetime for me, as well as my fellow peers. I can't wait for the day my children will become Seaman Vikings and feel the pride I do in knowing they're receiving the best education possible in Topeka, Kansas.

Senior: Manhattan High School offers many different classes to prepare students for their lives after high school. Students have the opportunity to take MATC or AP courses with the possibility to earn college credit in high school. This make it easy to take many of the general education courses required in college, in High School. The teachers teaching these courses what their students to succeed and work their very hardest to ensure that their students do. The teachers also use creative ways to ensure their students understand the content they are teaching. Students getting their diploma at Manhattan High School are sure to be college ready.

Senior: Louisburg School District is a great district to be a part of. The schools aren't huge so you know everyone in your class but are big enough that you aren't with the same kids everyday. If I could change anything about the district, it would be that administration listen to the kids more. We know what works for us and what doesn't so I feel we should be a part of the answer.

Junior: I enjoy being a student in the Shawnee Mission School District because there are many supportive teachers who are willing to go out of their way to help you. We have an excellent Spanish program as well as fine arts programs. We have great technology and many sports programs. I feel very lucky to have the resources that I have in this school district. One thing I would change about this school district, however, is the amount of college preparation they give you. I wish there was more guidance and information given about scholarships and potential schools. I also think that there are some teachers who don’t particularly enjoy their job and don’t do the best job of teaching their students.

Parent: I was a student of this school from kindergarten to graduation. They have the best staff and faculty to make sure each child learns. They are dedicated to making every child feel important. Parent: I feel that the students are well prepared to move on to college from Haysville Highschool. As with anything the food becomes a gripe, the one thing that I would like to see is a better sports program which produces school prize. some of the coaches seem to have favorites and build the teams around that favorite instead of working with all students and making them better.

Senior: I loved the small class sizes, it really gives a lot of one on one time with the teachers. It is a nice community to grow up in. The teachers are fantastic individuals and collaborate with one another to make a really strong staff. The education is great here for the resources that are provided. However, our school is poorly funded. We can't do labs in our science classes because the school can't afford to pay for the resources needed for the labs. Our sports teams are underfunded, we have a gravel track, our second gym is referred to as the barn, and our track team has had all the same equipment for around ten years. We don't have a lot of clubs that other schools have such as forensics or wrestling. The environment here is amazing, the teachers are amazing, but our funding is way below what is needed.
