Senior: The campus contains grades 1-12, allowing a cohesiveness I have never experienced before (This is my 7th school), but is still separated by school (elem, Intermed, middle, HS). This brings a sense of unity and school spirit, as well as many other advantages. Diversity is welcomed, and socioeconomic acceptance was much better than expected. Senior: I began school in this district at the beginning of my fourth grade year. My elementary teachers were very welcoming, and I was placed into advanced classes, like my previous school placed me into. Once I got to middle school, I had similar relationships. Every time I asked a question, my teachers would make sure I understood the answer before moving on. They did this with all students in my classes. As a high school student, the teachers did the best they could with how many students came through their classrooms. At Westerville Central, my high school, there are so many students that seniors do not get lockers. Students cannot open enroll into my school from another Westerville high school because we have too many students. Senior: In Reynoldsburg City Schools, I like that there are a lot of different choices for academic classes, so students never need to feel stuck with their schedule. There are a lot of options for classes like electives, different levels of mathematics, different sciences, etc. However, I feel like the discipline could be improved because during my experience here, I choose to be very respectful to every teacher and staff member, but a lot of students do not choose this. Junior: While I have been in this inner-city school district my whole life and have no other experiences with school districts, it is fairly so my opinion may be biased. Even so, the South-Western City School district has been nothing but beneficial, helping me build upon all my academic skills, with more than plentiful teachers who all along the way have opened many doors to what I need to keep moving forward. With a reinforced ESL program, multiple core academic accelerated programs, district-bought resources for all students, and strong support toward fine arts programs such as band, orchestra, and choir, SWCSD is prone to help all their students reach at least one life-changing opportunity before walking the stage their senior year and moving to whatever path they walk after their K-12 education.... Senior: This school has changed so much in my four years. We moved into a brand new building my sophomore year of high school. I genuinely feel this had a big impact on the overall moral around the building. People were kinder, more positive, and we had so much school spirit. My junior year, our varsity football team made it to the playoffs for the first time in years. No matter who you were or whether or not you cared about football, you were so excited for the team. Throughout this pandemic, the staff has made sure to do everything they could for us and put our mental health first. Works Here: As a parent of 2 current students and a current employee, I absolutely love working in the WCS district. I started working here 3 years ago as a preschool aide and I am now a special needs educational aide for the district. I love working with different children and teachers. I am also enrolled in Eastern Gateway Community College in their Prekindergarten Care and Education program to obtain my Associates degree. I was able to take this opportunity thanks to our school union. I love how our district works together for the betterment of our students. Senior: My enrollment in the Columbus City School District was one of the best decisions I have ever made! 2016 was when I first enrolled in this district. I previously was in the Delaware City School District and if I could rate that particular district, I would give it a one-star review. It was a terrible experience. Thankfully, I found a much better district. One that cares about its students and their futures. The first thing I noticed about the Columbus City School district was its cultural diversity. I've learned so much. This opportunity shaped me into a well-rounded woman. With open-mindedness, passion, and kindness, I was able to accept everyone as they are. Since 2016, my social life has expanded enormously. I will forever be immensely grateful for this district and what they offered me. I could write forever about Columbus City Schools but sadly there's a limit. One last thing I will mention is its support. There has never been a day where I felt behind or in the shadows....
