Middle School Student: I go here it is awesome! Everyone is so welcoming and is very kind and I already have a ton of friends. Curriculum is tough, but worth it, and you are still able to do out of school activities. Staff and Admins are amazing and genuinely care about the students education. There is a wide array of after-school clubs including but not limited to: Drama Club, Book Club, Sci-Fi Club, First Lego League, Math Counts, Science Quiz Bowl, and Band. Do note that the only sport they have is Middle School Cross-Country but you are able to participate in sports in your district. Junior: I found my experience at Profile High School to be very pleasant. I felt that the classes offered were very rigorous and the teachers were excellent. One of the issues that I feel the school faces is the lack of school spirit. Very few people attend sports games, and very few people are actually excited for pep rallies. Senior: I liked the connectivity with the community. Sunapee does a very good job including all of the students into the community. One thing that Sunapee could improve on is their funding for the arts programs. A lot of money is put into the sports, which is understandable because the sports have a lot of demand. However, the smaller clubs such as the drama club or the music department could be funded a little bit better. Most of the teacher at Sunapee are amazing teachers. One of the most amazing things about Sunapee is how easy they make it to talk to the teachers. Because Sunapee is such a small school, it is very easy to develop close relationships with the teachers and the students. Parent: I have two children at The Birches, in 6th and 4th grade, and couldn't be happier with our experience. My oldest switched from town school in 2nd grade and my youngest was part of the first kindergarten at The Birches. Teaching is individualized, allowing students to move ahead if able or gain extra support if needed. Math is held during the same time throughout the school so students can move up a grade if they are excelling. The arts integrated approach allows creativity and hands on learning. Middle School Student: It is a fun school with a lot of nice kids. The majority of the programs are really fun and everyone calls one of our gym teachers dj Linda hehe. We have a usealll amount of homework and if your kids are younger then I suggest you enroll in moharement elementary school. Middle School Student: They care too much about our feelings then about what we learn. The school is about 11 years old as of 2019 so it's really clean. The school needs to focus more on discipline and academics then less important things like the clubs 5% of the school is apart of. Overall the school is average the food is good and there is a lot of options to choose from. Niche User: Amherst is a highly educated town. The community is brimming with successful professionals and business owners. That fact alone tells you about how much parents in this town want their kids to succeed in school. But there isn't as much keeping up with the Jones' like there is in towns like Hollis and Bedford. So students aren't judged for socio-economic reasons as much as you would think moving here from another state like we did. Of note, it says Nationally Recognized School of Excellence outside the school. Middle School Student: I am a long time SCS student now graduating 8th grade. Sadly my last year! :( I can not explain the AMAZING arts and music programs and learning enviroment. . I started playing viola in 3rd grade because it is mandatory that you take a stringed instrument. (best decision ever) I still play viola and since of my previous knowledge of learningn it, I now play many more instruments including ukulele, upright bass, keyboard, guitar, and as well as doing vocals with an incredible teacher (shout out to Jean!) Art is included in every way it can be. State testing is done through a different program where we add a art element, and it makes testing fun!
