Alum: It is a good school. The small classes make it easy to learn and easy to make friends. I’ve graduated now, but when I was there I loved it. However, since I’ve gone, I’ve heard that there’s been bullying and the rules have gotten stricter. A bad thing about this school is that the rules are very tight and many of them are not important. There was a general feeling of anger towards the faculty because of that. However, the education is exceptional, and I heard that many classes are taught one grade level above what is required. When I was there, they had choir, theater, creative writing, extra math, and PE as their extracurriculars. That was a few years ago, so I expect they’ve expanded or improved on their classes. Alum: I'm a recent alumni who went to North Idaho STEM Charter Academy since 4th grade, and I can honestly say I wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere else. The school takes itself seriously when it comes to academics, employing a rigorous curriculum that prepares students for the real world and higher level classes, as well as gives them the knowledge they need to succeed in college or the workforce. The teachers know their stuff - many of the high school teachers are certified to teach college credit, and they want to see you succeed. As for activities, there are a plethora of projects elementary and middle school participate in that are both fun and promote teamwork/learning, such as First Lego League and National History Day. High school has clubs like Quiz Bowl and Book Club that allow students to take a break from academics and hang out with friends while also pursuing their passions. Freshman: Victory’s school mission states that “When there is low threat and content is highly challenging, accelerated learning takes place.” In this school they promote this to the extreme. Everything you learn is considered academically challenging, and you may think that you might not be able to learn it, but as you work hard and study like how they promote, you will rise to the standard they set for you. Through both sports and academics, Victory has taught me a very valuable lesson, that is the importance of working hard. In order to have success both in school and in life you need to live up to your potential. Our cross country coach would always tell us that if something doesn’t challenge you it will not change you. Senior: I've been at Liberty Charter school since 4th grade, and I'll be graduating this week from Liberty. This school has such a great community. Everyday I'm surrounded with teachers, classmates, and friends that make going to school and learning an amazing experience. The rules are a lot stricter here, but they are still reasonable and manageable, and it's all worth it to be part of such a great environment. Parent: We are in our 10th year at Sage and have nothing but wonderful things to say about it. We started in kindergarten, and their IB program provides so much hands-on inquiry-based learning to make school fun for young learners. The teachers are all amazing. There is no school on Fridays, giving students a chance to recoup or catch up on schoolwork, and the teachers and staff have a full day each week to collaborate, prep, and learn. Their middle school and high school programs are rigorous but fair, and do a wonderful job preparing our kids for college, career, and just life in general! Parent: Pros: Fantastic for letting children work at a pace that is right for them. This is a college prep school and the work required reflects that. The curriculum takes work both on the student's part and the learning coach's part. The teachers are helpful and care about the students doing well. Communication is wonderful. This school is a great choice if you want an online school with strong curriculum or if you want to homeschool your child but need some direction and want them to earn an accredited high school diploma. I do not regret choosing this school for my children and am excited to see where it takes them next! Cons: Most of the student body is in only one part of the state, leaving some students feeling disconnected from available activities due to travel times. The school appears to be working to remedy this, however, by arranging online fieldtrips that students from all parts of the state can attend. Senior: Xavier's main strength is creating unity. Two years ago, they created a "house" system where it is a class period for grades 7-12. We do many things such as mentorship, service, dancing, and competing in sports. For mentorship, an upperclassman would partner with a seventh grader and "mentor" them through their seventh-grade year. A plus about Xavier is that it is a small school. We are pretty much family because most of us have been at Xavier since kindergarten (Xavier has kindergarten through 12th grade in the same building). we know each other very well and the school makes an effort to do it. I also know that Xavier makes sure that bullying is always addressed and thought of as a very serious matter. We have a presentation at the beginning of every year and there is very little bullying. If there ever is though, it is addressed with a very serious matter and stopped immediately. This school makes sure that their students leave the school with the upmost character .... High School Senior: I loved my overall experience at Heritage Middle School. The school is very unique in that, there is very little bullying and everyone gets along. The administrators and teachers make sure that everyone is treated fairly. I could really tell that the teachers truly cared about their students and always took extra time to make sure their students were understanding the concepts. Parent: I have had children enrolled in the Taylor's Crossing elementary for the past 9 years. The level of academic instruction is phenomenal. Teachers teach to the high. Taylor's Crossing offers the perfect blend of not leaving any student behind while keeping students progressing so no one feels bored with their learning. It is a safe environment with extremely caring teachers and staff. Teachers are accessible and dedicated to helping children succeed. I have been even more impressed with their level of care during the pandemic. They do everything they can to keep our kids safe and progressing academically. I also appreciate that the school is not ok staying stagnant. They are constantly looking for ways to improve. In the past few years they have added a sports program, and are doing an excellent job for the size of school we are. Senior: I like the staff, and what the school values. The staff are always kinds, caring to students, and helpful. The teachers are amazing at what they do. The school values the sciences and the arts, has numerous sports and Cross fit programs, and helps connect students with Duel Credit Opportunities. One of the teachers was Idaho Teacher of the Year in 2018. Tuition is free, its a K-12, and I've been going there since 4th grade. I'm graduating soon, and my experience has been nothing but pleasurable. Freshman: As a student of Victory Middle School for 3 years, and I can honestly say that I LOVED my experience. The teachers aren't afraid to get close to their students and are always willing to help out. They also have many different opportunities for students to help them grow. There are classes to both help you improve when you struggle, as well as advanced and honors classes to challenge you and prepare you for not just high school, but college. Plus, the music courses are so fun. I was in choir for 3 years and my teacher was supportive of everyone, quirky, helpful, supportive, and one of my favorite teachers. Also, the students are great. Everyone is kind, and friendly and is willing to help out a peer. This school was amazing! I owe thanks to all the teachers at this school that I was close to because they helped prepare me for the high school that I was fortunate to attend. I recommend this middle to ANYONE! Middle School Student: Canfield Is an amazing school. The only "downfall" is that everyone that goes to this school is either really rich or poor (not very many poor kids, just rich). The kids act like there is no one else in this world but them. The teachers are okay, but I swear some of them are perverts. Oh, and don't even get me started about the dress code (no one in their down right mind would have shorts that go down to your knee and I personally wouldn't be caught dead wearing shorts like that to school).... Senior: North Star is a very tight-knit community that was very scary to walk into halfway through my high school career. However, these students are welcoming to new people as they are used to having exchange students (which is a whole other grand experience in itself). Thought I was meant to be part of the IB Programme, I ended out being in the [obviously less favorable] Capstone Program. North Star is beginning the Business Associates program with all incoming freshmen and students so-forth. Alum: I absolutely loved my experience attending Idaho Fine Arts Academy! I attended my senior year of high school and from the first day both students and teachers helped me to feel completely included and welcomed. I felt the teachers truly cared about me and helping me to pursue my dreams. I was in the dance majors program and was able to achieve my childhood dream of choreographing and performing a dance solo at the end of the school year. This was all thanks to the amazing support I received from both my peers and teachers. I love the long lasting relationships I formed at the Academy. If I could change anything I would add a few more elective options for students. I would have loved to take an advanced Spanish class my senior year.
