Parent: It’s the oldest public charter school in Utah and is about to celebrate its 20th anniversary. All three of my boys have attended all four years (5-8th) at SLArts. It’s been an outstanding school with dedicated faculty, low turnover, stellar arts curriculum including dance, music, visual arts and drama. The math/science teachers and curriculum are also outstanding. It received an A+ in the Utah Schools report card this year. If your student is an avid learner with good executive organizational skills and a passion for the arts - this is the school for you. SLArts is supportive of a diverse student body and creates an environment of deep learning. Be sure to put your child’s name into their lottery in 4th grade (usually closes by February), for consideration as an incoming 5th grader when close to 100 spots are available. Parent: Overall, I love this school! I love how they teach based on the ability of the child and not the grade only. I have one child who is above his grade level and one who is avg and they teach to both. I also love the smaller class sizes which helps them have a better learning experience. The only areas of improvement I would like to see is, more Spanish (once a week is not enough to learn much) and the pick up process is pretty terrible. Parent: Our 5 children have all attended Lincoln Academy over the past 10 years. We made the move to Lincoln Academy when our oldest child was in 6 grade based on Lincoln's superior Math and Language Arts curriculum, small class sizes, teacher child ratio as each elementary class and all junior high core classes have Teaching Assistants, ability grouping in math and the focus on history and science even in elementary school. The additional benefits we've learned as we've been a part of the Lincoln community for the past 10 years are: the incredible lunch program, that our children are known by name by every teacher, the opportunities our children have had to participate in leadership roles, sports and art programs they otherwise would not have had in larger schools. We also love that parent volunteers are welcomed and wanted in the classrooms and school. Middle School Student: I am a 7th grader at North Star Academy. My School has athletics, academics, and fun. I am in a great environment with some wonderful teachers. I feel I am learning a lot, in History, Math, L.A., Art, Science, etc.. Here we follow SEM, we have testing out, and we know basic things like sentence structure that public schools teach in high school. Our school has three halls. Freshman: The best part of Fairfield Junior High is that it only one floor so you can move quickly to your classes. FFJH also pays special attention to sports and academics. Most of the teachers are excellent, helpful, and educated. One of the not-so-great things at FFJH is some of the top choices for the substitutes, and the food they serve for lunch. Most of the substitutes don't know what they're talking about and in the end confuses me and my classmates. The change I would like to see in the school is the food they serve to be healthier.... Sophomore: The teachers and peers at my school are wonderful. Everyone here is understanding and welcoming; a perfect place to fit in. I've moved around my whole life, and DaVinci is arguably the best school I've been to. The counselors actually want to create a strong connection with you, not to mention, they are extremely flexible when you just want to talk, work out problems, or simply need schedule changes. The staff are some of the most loving people I have ever come across, and I would not be able to come back to school, day after day doing work, if it were not for their kindheartedness. The students here are committed to a positive environment, keeping everyone in good spirits here everyday. I love DaVinci. Parent: It’s such a great school! The environment is very friendly with a church close by. Snowhorse elementary is right next to Centennial, and it’s very close to highway 89. The children are great and they’re very good influences to others around them. Alum: My experience at Farmington Junior High School was honestly amazing! I was able to take some amazing classes, had some great teachers, and met some amazing friends. Some of my favorite teachers included my AP Human Geography teacher, my seventh grade English teacher, and my French teacher. While I enjoyed my experience at Farmington Junior the school was super old and not the nicest; however, this past summer they did re-do it and I have heard it is much nicer now. Middle School Student: My experience at West Point Junior High was extremely good. All the students that go there are respectful to one another and they are kind to everyone. The teachers are extremely well qualified to be teaching and teach their course with such a great enthusiasm that i am actually excited to learn more about the subject with it not being boring. They also have many clubs to choose from that there is more opportunities for those that just want to be in a fun group and be apart of the school.
