Parent: This is our 3rd year at ICSAtlanta (2 children). My son attended another local area charter school, which we chose because they teach Arabic. Because language instruction was just a few days a week, he was not learning very much. Now he is fluent in French! My daughter is proficient as well. Both kids LOVE their teachers and the environment there. No school is perfect, but this is as close as it gets for our family. My daughter started in K and will hopefully get all the way through in 8th grade. My son is looking forward to middle school next fall after an amazing elementary experience. Parent: I enjoy this school and appreciate it being an option away from the public school setting. New schools always have "growing pains", but then again older schools have their own set of issues as well. Since being at this school, I have had no concerns with communications with any staff. They have always been professional, polite, and attentive to my concerns. Does that mean we always agree? No. It definitely doesn't. However, I've never left a meeting or conference feeling unheard. In addition, I feel the staff genuinely is focused on what they feel will develop strong scholars meaning academics AND discipline. Most importantly, I feel my child is in safe environment to learn...and that makes all the difference. If I could change anything, I would suggest that academics remain separate, but integrate extra curricular electives such as Art and Coding to give some exposure to working with opposite genders in an academic environment.... Senior: For what the school lacks in facilities and strong sports team, it makes up with incredibly devoted teachers who work relentlessly to ensure that every student is getting the best education they can. The education succeeds other Atlanta private schools, despite being a free charter school. The spirit is strong as everyone knows each other and contributes to the overall life of the school. However, being a small charter school with minimal funding creates a lack of facilities and ability to have strong sports teams. Middle School Student: The school is very good in terms of academics however some teachers are really good at teaching but some just don’t teach at all and they give the hardest tests too. The students here are ok. Most people here are nice but, just like any school, there will always be toxic students who spread rumors and talk bad about people. Parent: We switched from our zoned school to FAST when it originally opened 6 years ago. The main reason we were interested is because they look at the whole student. You can be on level or behind in one subject and not be penalized and kept out of higher level work in another one. They started doing social-emotional learning long before it was the “it” thing to do. And design thinking prepares you for the real world. The real world isn’t a bunch of standardize tests. Middle School Student: I am a student at Autrey Mill. The teachers are amazing, especially the French teacher. However, there are many fights, about once a month. The food is terrible. Never buy school lunch. I am vegetarian and once I was unable to eat the nachos because the teacher refused to serve it to me without meat. Parent: My oldest daughter started Kindezi O4W during the pandemic (2020) with virtual learning. She has thrived both during virtual learning and in person learning and has now started her third year at Kindezi O4W. I am very impressed with this school. I work at a local university, so good quality education is important to me. The teachers give their geniuses individually assigned tasks to further their strengths and work on those areas needing improvement. The teachers are in constant contacts with the parents and are genuinely enthusiastic about their jobs and the children they teach. The class sizes are small (14 kids: 2 teachers per class). I am delighted that our younger daughter just started Kindergarten at Kindezi O4W as well. Both of our kids LOVE this school, and wake up in the morning happy to go and learn and see their friends. Parent: My kids are in 7th and this year has been wonderful! The teachers have no issues contacting you with anything positive or negative. It’s also easy to contact the counselor or any staff you wish to via email or phone. The front office staff are AMAZING and do their best to remember your name and child’s name, at least one of the names. I also love this new system in this year that parents receive a call and email if their child misses one or more classes Incase the parent is unaware of the missed class or missed day, a call to them will let you know specifics. But last year I really didn’t like the school but it was all me and all mental games, but it’s like many parents going to 6th grade. It is a tough year because you’re going not only a new school but you also have a change in administrators and rules to get used to. Parent: I love Westside! My kids have thrived there. One of my favorite things is the fact that they take the MAP assessment upon entering the school and 3 times per year. This assessment gives the teachers vital information to help all kids grow academically. They provide support where it is needed and are consistently aiming to improve and give the kids amazing experiences through field trips and class projects. No school is perfect so there is always room for improvement, but I love the small class sizes and the courses in the arts that are well supported by the executive team. Alum: I was at CSK for seven years! Being there for that long means a lot. But most importantly, it meant it was such a great school that my parents kept me their to build to my success. The supportive system that CSK has to offer makes sure that students get the individual attention and guidance they need to do their best. The clubs, sports, and organizations were my favorites interests at the school. They made you feel included and were super fun. Senior: For the first time in my life I can honestly say that I have two family.Which includes my family(relatives) and secondly my school family. Both groups whom I love dearly will and forever play a big part in my future. From the outside looking in, you can "say" that the people I see in schools are my friends/peers , but in doubt its wisely stated that friends are the family you pick and choice In my school family, trust, respect, and character are the core attributes that are valued the most. Whether or not, you are a new students or old, transferring or withdrawn all are accepted in the arms of this family.
