Senior: I started off my high school experience uninvolved and didn't really enjoy my time at Philip Simmons my freshman and sophomore year. I've been apart of sports at Philip Simmons since I was in 8th grade, I joined the lacrosse team. I've noticed the school places a heavy emphasis on athletics, while lacking in arts. I decided to change my perspective Junior year and became more involved in school activities which was very easy. I am now president of my school National Honor Society chapter, created a book club, and am Capitan of my lacrosse team. Senior: In Academic Magnet High School, you meet students who are not only focused on the academics, but are also friendly and kind individuals to rely on and receive aid with in matters regarding academics, strengthening the community. For clubs and sports, the students attends them with dedication with some even attending despite their busy schedule. The school offer plenty of AP courses to gain college credit and even if those were minimized to the minimal requirement, the honors courses and teachers will teach the necessary skills to strive well in College, making it feels like a breeze compared to their experiences in this school.... Senior: I am in my fourth and final year at SOA and it has been an incredible experience. There are so many amazing opportunities in every major and class for example, Every year the strings and vocal majors get together and put on a Holiday Spectacular at The Gaillard Center in Downtown Charleston. Last year, our top orchestra group traveled to Orlando, Florida where they won 1st place in the National Orchestra Festival (Competition). At the end of this month, we are travelling to New York City to participate in another National Orchestra Competition. The students and faculty at this school are so inclusive and there is definitely something for everyone, you just have to find where you fit in, whether its foodies club, the annual fashion show, or Mock Trial. Junior: PSA is a great school for academics since all classes are honors or higher. I wish we had more AP classes since that would aid in college readiness even more. If we are able to have more funding towards clubs and our arts program, I feel many students would enjoy participating in those classes more. Aside from academics, many students look forward to Leap Day, a day where we do no school work and have fun-based classes, such as rock painting and Legos. Junior: My experience overall experience with Hanahan High School has been a good one. I have my favorite teachers that I wish could teach many different subjects so that I could have them repeatedly. I have my teachers that I wish I never had because they were teachers that made my learning experience difficult. The best part of my experience is the cheer team that I am involved with. I wish that our school offered more clubs to join. Senior: I have enjoyed being able to spend four hours at class and the rest of the day on sports, work, or other activities has allowed me to say yes to more opportunities all while earning college credits. Our many options for clubs or sports allows student athletes to excel in both academics and athletics. I would love for my school to build a larger parking lot so students can get to classes on time easier instead of spending ten extra minutes in the parking lot searching for a spot.... Senior: Going to Lucy Beckham has been such a blessing. I started there my freshman year when the school was brand new and couldn't ask for a better high school experience. Being a brand new school I expected it to be very unorganized but it was the exact opposite.
