#136 Best Public High School Teachers in Michigan
- Public School
- Byron Center, MI
- Rating 3.67 out of 5 15 reviews
Parent: The teachers truly care about the kids and do their best to get the kids to learn. Small classes gives kids personal attention and extra help if needed. If a kid feels left out or if there is a kid being mean or such it is seen and dealt with promptly.
There are fun after school activities like dances, gingerbread house building, ultimate frisbee and more. The high school band program is high quality.
The down side is that they don't have many extracurricular programs like sports or clubs. They also don't have many choices for electives in high school but they do offer online dual enrollment which is GREAT for kids who are college bound.
I feel it was the best decision I could have made for my kids.

Grandville High School
#163 Best Public High School Teachers in Michigan
- Grandville Public Schools, MI
- Rating 3.97 out of 5 354 reviews
Sophomore: The majority of the teachers are nice and like to help students when it comes to achieving their goals in the classroom. The sports program is pretty competitive and has a variety of sports to choose from. I'm hoping that minority inclusiveness and ethnic diversity will improve in the future. Remote learning is pretty tricky and isn't as intensive and engaging as in-person. There well enough of a variety of clubs and activities. The majority of students, parents, and I agree that there is poor judgment when it comes to handling issues generally, which can also be said for the Grandville district as a whole. Readiness for the future like college and career planning is overall pretty good. The music program is pretty good, many outstanding achievements were made by those involved. It's fun to get involved with school spirit events and the skies the limit when it comes to achieving your goals at Grandville High School. I am overall proud to be a Bulldog!

Hopkins High School
#195 Best Public High School Teachers in Michigan
- Hopkins Public Schools, MI
- Rating 3.7 out of 5 131 reviews
Alum: Hopkins High School was very connected and I like that I knew every one I would see in the hallways. All of the teachers were friendly and helpful! Looking back, I truly appreciate all that they did for me if I struggled within a subject. I would improve a few minor things within the school like lighting to create a happier vibe for everyone. Overall I was glad I went to Hopkins over any other school.

Wayland High School
- Wayland Union Schools, MI
- Rating 3.72 out of 5 197 reviews
Senior: For me personally, I liked the small, interconnected, and overall community atmosphere that Wayland Union High School had. Averaging about 200 people per graduating class, everybody knew everybody. Some people like that aspect. Some people don't. For me, it was a fairly positive experience, and as soon as I stuck my neck out a little bit, it became all the more entertaining.
A few upperclassmen eventually showed me what Wayland was really about; community. The football games and the school dances, which I used to dread, became some of the events I looked forward to the most. I walked through the halls and wasn't afraid to yell and joke around with people. I said good morning to students that I didn't even know. I included kids who didn't have a table at lunch. These were the things that the upperclassmen did, the exact ones who showed me the light.
Coming out of my shell a little earlier would have made my years at Wayland Union High School all that more memorable.
